Total Time = 1h 18m 12s
Overall Rank = /350
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 13/25
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4am for protein shake, back to sleep. Then up at 5am, shower, protein and juice, get stuff together then left for race.
Event warmup:

Not much, checked bike in at 6:15, race didn't start until 8:40.
Swim
  • 06m 13s
  • 300 yards
  • 02m 04s / 100 yards
Comments:

First serpentine pool swim. I had a few issues going under the lane markers. I should learn the flip at the wall, would have made this easier. I started out fast, then slowed when I got tired. Needed to warm up, but pool was a mess as it got close to start time.
What would you do differently?:

Warm up and find a better way to change lanes. (probably flip at wall)
Transition 1
  • 03m
Comments:

Had trouble getting shoes locked in.
What would you do differently?:

Just generally move faster to decrease T1 time, and get the damn shoes locked in right away.
Bike
  • 39m 6s
  • 12 miles
  • 18.41 mile/hr
Comments:

Good bike time for me, but I need to increase speed! Right calf cramped often, slowing me down at times.
What would you do differently?:

Continue to push hard throughout the entire bike segment. My time was 8 min for the first lap, and 11 for the last. Need to keep pace. I think I should try to get more potassium to prevent cramps.
Transition 2
  • 03m
Comments:

Wasted some time putting shoes on, but overall was good.
What would you do differently?:

Get shoes on quicker.
Run
  • 26m 53s
  • 3 miles
  • 08m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

Kept a decent pace, but could have been faster. Body was tired and stiff by the run.
What would you do differently?:

Push harder early. I could have run a faster pace.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretching and walking, but not much. Felt good after the race

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Poor turns in the pool
Not enough warm up in pool
Cramps on bike
Didn't push enough during run

Event comments:

Not a bad race for local organization. A little unorganized, but good enough to figure out where to be and what to do.
