Swim
Comments: I may have to update this but I was sure i was the last one out. I couldn't find the stinking ladder rung. I felt like a dork but kept on trying. I was just happy I never stopped swimming. I was hit and pulled and I kicked a few people. i apologize it was not intentional, I just refused to stop to say sorry. I already swim slow enough. What would you do differently?: I dunno - wearing my plugs worked fine to avoid any chance of vertigo or feeling ill. I think now it is just refine technique and of course keep swimming. Transition 1
Comments: I MUST practice that. Bike
Comments: Well I went at it - this is my favorite part of the race. I know I come out of the water slow, so I play a game with myself of how many people (ladies) I can catch. at one point I went at it too hard. my left side of my head started to hurt. So I backed off and paid attention to my cadence and got comfortable. Then I was okay. Still passed, but I felt wonderful. i have my hydration alarm set for every 10 minutes - uhm I may need to drop that back some, but that will come with practice and temps. What would you do differently?: need new shoes, my right shoe strap got stuck so I lost a few seconds at the end trying to get it unstrapped so I could get my feet our before dismounting. I rode without socks - so that is good, just need a newer pair of shoes so I can unstrap quicker, Transition 2
Comments: While running back with my bike i unclipped the chin strap, so when I racked the bike with one hand I took off my helmet with the other. Socks on, shoes on, hat on oh yeeah gloves off - lol. and I was out. What would you do differently?: I need a water bottle to take with me. I know fuel makes one that "straps" to your hand. I'll go with that. Run
Comments: Well I was doing okay, then I fizzled mentally, started walking - a brisk walk, but a walk nonetheless. I just wanted water. I probably say I ran 1.5-miles and walked 1.5-miles. Got a weird spasm in my knee for a few, but after the finish line and drinking plenty of water and Gatorade, I was fine. What would you do differently?: Bring the water. Get to some brick practices. try more tri's Post race
Warm down: lol - nothing lost a lot of sweat just standing talking to a few people at the finish line. What limited your ability to perform faster: oh heck - not being elite - lol I am going to work on getting in more workouts. I think I did pretty well having missed a few weeks of training. Event comments: Of course I'll do it again next year!!! Oh and it was great meeting iwanttotri & her sister. BTW I did this as a relay last year time(1:58:10) - I beat my team's time by almost four (4) minutes. Besides me being proud of my own swim ( I didn't stop no matter how many times I was bumped, hit, etc.), if that ain't progress then I dunno what you'd consider it - lol Last updated: 2007-07-22 12:00 AM

Well last night I sat down making sure my transition bag was all set.
Mentally went through what I planned to do the day of... Packed up he vehicle, and went to bed. I sorta slept.
Well, I just wanted to remain calm, I walked and walked. Found out where swim in was, walked that path to my bike.
Found out where bike out was located, walked that path mentally, and back. Found where run out was located, walked that path.
Then I found a friend who was going to race too, so I had someone to hang out with. Nothing like feeling alone at these races.
