  • Comments: This is the 3rd year and the third time I have done this race. I really like it. Just two areas of opportunity. They needed more than one aid station on the run and make the run the right distance. I will be back next year.

  • Comments: First race but I think that they needed one more aid station on the run. It was very hot in Dallas and according to several peoples garmins the run wasn't a 5k but 3.65 miles. Overall a great first race. I learned alot and will go back.

  • Comments: I had so much fun at this race, but since it's my first I don't have anything to compare it to. I felt like there were plenty of volunteers, and I think the Greer's did a great job organizing everything. I would definately do this race again! It was the perfect venue for my first tri!

  • Comments: this was great. lots of buzz. will do it again probably. only issues were on the run with a. the length of course not being what they said and b. only having one aid station. could've used one either at each mile, or two of them spread evenly. oh well...won't deter me from next year. loved the buzz.

  • Comments: I have said it in a pervious post I applaud anyone that can train in the heat and humidity. San Diego has made me spoiled and I can't imagine living and training anywhere else. If I had to do it all over again I would try and get to Texas a little earlier to get used to the time change. As for the getting used to the heat I would have to travel about an hour out of San Diego to get some training in with the heat.

  • Comments: This was a well organized race. Lots of volunteers. Great course. I would have liked for there to be another water stop on the run. The first was not until 1.5 miles in. This was the second year I did IronGirl but will definatly do it again next year.

  • Comments: Of course I'll do it again next year!!! Oh and it was great meeting iwanttotri & her sister. BTW I did this as a relay last year time(1:58:10) - I beat my team's time by almost four (4) minutes. Besides me being proud of my own swim ( I didn't stop no matter how many times I was bumped, hit, etc.), if that ain't progress then I dunno what you'd consider it - lol

  • Comments: Well organized, started on time. I liked the specific bike racking. You don't have to arrive as early, and everyone has enough room. All the courses were well-marked and thought out. People seemed to be having a good time, and there were some roving spectators cheering us on. I found it intersting there was a water hand-up on the bike. It was so short that it didn't seem worth the stop to me, but some may have found it wonderful. It was nice they offered it. One of the most enjoyable I have done all year. I also like the finisher's medals and technical T's. They had ample food for the athletes, but it wasn't well placed. We didn't find it at first, but they had bagels, bananas, lots of drink varieties, and cinnamon rolls. The awards were moved up and moved outside this year. That was nice. And it was great to see Teri win our age group!!

  • Comments: For a race this big, I expected a bigger expo and a bigger post race spread. I think lots of people had trouble finding the food because it was back behind the transition area. The beer was a nice touch although I'm not a beer drinker. Donuts, pizza or pancakes would have made me happier :) However, the volunteers were great, the numbered bike racks were great, and in general the race was run very well. They even did awards earlier than scheduled to help us all get home.

  • Comments: I know that I need to change how I train. I always key in on what my weaknesses are and those are important things to keep an eye on. In my case, I think they are becoming distractions. I do a lot of things well. I think I would do better to work on getting even better at those things instead of beating myself up on what I struggle with. I was encouraged on the bike and know I can improve my run. I am going to back off (mentally) on the swim for a while and try to put some polish on my strenghts.

  • Comments: I came in second in the Athena under 40 division. I probably will never place in this division again...not just because of weight (hopefully), but I was lucky that I came in second anyway. I know, gotta love myself. I raced, I completed and out of the 10 women in that division, I was the second fastest there. I guess I just look too much at the other times and think that I am undeserving. And yet if someone else was in my shoes, I would say they deserved it. I enjoyed this race because the crowd and volunteer support was awesome. Having the spectators and crowds line the streets for the bike and the run was awesome. It was so cool to round the corner going into transition on the bike at high speed and having people cheer you on...like my own mini Tour De France! And having people cheer you on as you run in and clapping and yelling for you.....everyone should experience that at least once. And I need to remember that my participation in triathlons is not about winning or losing because

  • Comments: My only complaint - with the exception that I did not place, is that the transition area was in a parking lot and it did not appear that they swept the lot. There was lots of gravel that was uncomfortable coming in from the swim. I tried to clean my feet before putting on my socks, but I still had the gravel on my feet. Was not an issue on the bike, but on several occasions on the run I had to slow way down (yes, slow for me means stop), and move my feet in my shoes to rearrange the gravel. Other than that, the race was very well organized, lots of volunteers and just a lot of fun!
