Swim
Comments: I felt like I was going fast but after the fact I wasn't really. I really need to get better in the swim. Transition 1
Comments: I didn't have any rubber bands to tie my shoes up. I don't think that it really hurt me that much. I was in a good gear but I need to do a better job of getting up to speed quicker before putting my feet in my shoes. I would also like to get faster at getting my feet in the shoes. Bike
Comments: I felt great on the bike. I had a great avg speed and I did it without race wheels. I wish I had race wheels I would have been even faster. The one thing that really sucked was the guy in the red speedo that was pulling behind a few of us for the entire bike leg. Watch out for him in future races. Transition 2
Comments: Good fast transition. Try running a little faster with the bike. There was a little congestion at the dismount line and that caused a few seconds. Run
Comments: I had really bad breathing cramps for the first four miles. After that I opened up and was really able to push the pace. My cramps weren't because of exhaustion because I didn't even have a high HR at that time. I was reduced to walking but only for a few seconds and through one of the aid stations. I wish the run was longer, I would have done better as I was feeling faster with time. Post race
Warm down: Nothing really, just a little walking What limited your ability to perform faster: The cramps that I got on the run. I need to figure that one out. Event comments: This was an exceptionally run race. There were plenty of aid stations, the volunteers were fantastic, there was even a guy hosing off our feet as we left the sand. There was an aid station on the ride that you passed on each loop. It was such a great race that I felt the need to write a nice email to the race director Debbie Gomberg. Starting the Tuesday before the race I abandoned my usual oatmeal breakfast for the plain bagel with PBJ. I was hoping this would avoid any gas issues. It seemed to work. Got to the race got a spot on the rack, and got set up pretty quickly. I couldn't find any rubber bands so I wasn't able to tie my shoes up. I didn't notice it too much but I know that it is better if I can do this. My transition space has become quite minimalistic. I leave a towel with my shoes on it and a water bottle just in case. My helmet has my glasses on it and they are on my handlebars. My race belt is inside out next to my helmet open and ready to go. That's it plain and simple. The more stuff laying around the more time it will take me.
No really other than a little jog up the beach and a short little swim.
