Swim
Comments: I almost forgot to take off my sandals before getting in the pool. goggles strap slipped out of eye piece right before my start so had to toss them. Swam faster than I expected. Passed one swimmer. I swam most of the way breathing every sixth stroke even though all my training was for every fourth stroke. What would you do differently?: get better goggles, but b/c it was a pool swim did not effect perfomance Transition 1
Bike
Comments: Kid you not a yellow jacket was either in my shirt before I put it on in t1 or flew into my shirt and bit me three times on the stomach during the first down hill before I smashed it. Good thing I am not allergic! No effect on the race though. What would you do differently?: zip shirt up faster so bees cant get in. Need my own road bike (used a friends) Transition 2
Run
Comments: hardest part of the entire event was the first 1/2 mile and getting rid of slight feeling of nausea. Passed several runners. I got passed by one kid at the 1 mile mark. He had an X on his leg so I think he was part of a relay so that did not bother me (he was sprinting). Had to remind myself to run a little harder than comfortable a couple of times. Finished really strong. What would you do differently?: Not much. I may have been able to go out a little harder. Post race
Warm down: a little stretching, but it was so cool did not feel necessary to cool down. Plus family and friends were there for picture taking after event. What limited your ability to perform faster: slowest part of my race was transitions, I attribute that to first triathlon fear of a mistake. I did hit all of my goals and ran a little faster than I expected. Probably can improve most on the bike with more training. Event comments: This was my first triathlon (actually first race of any kind) and the training with a goal was great. The race was extremely well organized and was set up well with the finish close to the transition area which was nice for spectators. I will definitely be back. Last updated: 2007-09-17 12:00 AM

Arrived with 2 other participants at 6:45 am. Since their swim times were faster than mine I watched their swims and cheered for them as they left the t1. Then headed to the pool.
none really a little stretching.
