Pre-race routine:

Woke up about an hour and a half before race time. Ate 1/2 a banana and some grape nut O's. Some stretching and headed over to the start line.

Comments:

I actually enjoyed this marathon. It was my second marathon and I felt 100 percent better after this one than the first. I kept a slower pace at the beginning, miles 15- 18 were the hardest for me. Then I caught my second wind and was feeling strong for the finish. So strong that I think I should have pushed myself a little harder throughout the middle. My goal for this marathon was to run in under 5 hours and then hopefully run in the 4:40's. I achieved both! This was a good experience for me.

Event comments:

This race was very well organized and the crowd support was Great! There was constant cheering and lots of live bands! A great experience, but beware of those Austin Hills!

Course: This course proved to be much more hilly than I anticipated. My cousin who has run 12 marathons said this was the hardest course she has ever run.
