Pre-race routine:

I woke up at 5:00am. I had a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich with a bottle of water. I was very nervous. I spent most of the pre-race morning with my kids and husband.
Event warmup:

Not much of warmup.
Swim
  • 15m 18s
  • 547 yards
  • 02m 48s / 100 yards
Comments:

I did better than I expected. In the beginning I guess it was nerves but I could not catch my breath to swim like I do in the pool. I started breathing every stroke and just concentrated on relaxing and getting through the swim. There was a lot of physical contact on this swim.
What would you do differently?:

This is my first tri and my swim went well. I need more OWS and just more experience and training.
Transition 1
  • 02m 50s
Comments:

I was pleased with T1. It went very smoothly.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 51m 29s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 14.49 mile/hr
Comments:

My bike time was terrible according to stats. But it was faster than I had trained. I was passed alot except going uphill which I managed to pass people. I still don't understand alot about the gears and biking. I had a great time on the bike. I accomplished my goal of not falling off on the dismount. For some reason I can't get off my bike properly. :)
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. My bike time reflected my training.

Need more training on the bike. More outdoor rides.
Transition 2
  • 01m 24s
Comments:

This went very smoothly.
Run
  • 40m 37s
  • 3.65 miles
  • 11m 08s  min/mile
Comments:

I did good for the first 2 miles. After mile 2 my calves starting cramping up so I started switching between walking and running. I did have a strong sprint finish and smiled across the finish line.
What would you do differently?:

More bricks before the race.

Maybe get in a warmup run and stretch.
Post race
Event comments:

First race but I think that they needed one more aid station on the run. It was very hot in Dallas and according to several peoples garmins the run wasn't a 5k but 3.65 miles. Overall a great first race. I learned alot and will go back.
