Comments: Tried to run a steady pace (around 10 min/mile). Ran the whole course, including all the hills, despite being very slow on some of the inclines. Felt good the last 3 miles and picked up the pace (although the last 3/4 mile was uphill and somewhat punishing...). What would you do differently?: Not much... I was surprised to realize that this was a PR for me (by 40 seconds). The previous best time at this distance was on a very FLAT course in 2005. Post race
Warm down: Lots of fluids, walked for about 10 minutes. What limited your ability to perform faster: The hills, the extra 20 lbs on my waist.... Gentle stretching...
Rode a mountain bike up the hill to the registration area to pick up my race packet/shirt. My legs were instantly tires, and I was thinking I made a stupids decision to ride that bike up the hill.
