Swim
Comments: I'm getting better at going under lane lines and what not, but it still slows me down a little. This race attracts some really good swimmers (4:40 for 400m) and it was pretty fun to watch them swim while I waited to get in the water. Transition 1
Comments: Time included in the bike split. Pretty smooth for the first race of the year. Bike
Comments: I tried to put the hammer down from the start. Any time I would feel myself easing up, I'd commit to pushing that much harder. It was a good ride on a nice day. Transition 2
Comments: Time also included in bike split. Pretty good, but I struggled with my running shoes and wet feet. Run
Comments: I ran strong the whole way. I passed a couple of people and was actually able to stay with a relay guy who initially blew by me. I'm not sure if he went out too hard, but I caught back up to him about 1/2 a mile after he passed me and stayed with him until the very end. He had more left in the tank and beat me in the last quarter mile, but I'm okay with that. What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
Warm down: Not much of a cool down. Essentially iced the achilles and cheered for my friends doing the race. I didn't know I had won until about 30-45 minutes later when they posted the results, but it was in the back of my mind. It was a good day. Event comments: Great job by RaceDayEvents this year. Awards were very timely and the event was well organized. I'm hoping the rest of their races go just as well. Last updated: 2008-05-20 12:00 AM

This was the first race of the year. I drove down the morning of the event, hung out with some friends, rode and ran a little, and then found my spot in line for the time trial start in the pool.
