Swim
Comments: I thought I would be a lot more nervous about the swim than I actually was. I swim pretty slow anyway, so the time wasn't horrible for me. I kept getting off course, which slowed me down a bit. I didn't like the plants that I got caught in near the ladders! What would you do differently?: Learn how to swim faster and sight better. Do more OWS practice. Transition 1
Comments: I felt like the transition went by really quickly. Everything went well, except for a lady that swerved in front of me and forced me to dismount while she was trying to get her shoes clipped in. What would you do differently?: Stay far away from other people. Bike
Comments: I practice on a pretty flat course, so the hills just killed me here. I could get some pretty good pacing, but when I went up those hills, it was hard for me to stay fast. I spent most of my time in the aero position and was surprised I passed as many people as I did. I love the bike! What would you do differently?: Practice on a hilly course. Transition 2
Comments: It was hard to rack my bike because there was a bike laying on the ground under my racking spot. I forgot my Yankz so it was a little harder getting my running shoes on. What would you do differently?: Remember my Yankz next time. Run
Comments: I went soooo slow. I didn't feel the brick as much as I have in my workouts, but I was exhausted by run time. About a mile in, the shade disappeared and I started to overheat. I felt like I could have pushed it more, but I was feeling so nauseous I just took it easy. The blister developing on the back of my ankle didn't help either. And the course was longer than 5k. What would you do differently?: Remember my Yankz. Better nutrition. Push it harder. Post race
Warm down: Lots of water! What limited your ability to perform faster: I should have eaten a better breakfast. I was so nervous I couldn't shove down more than a peach and a glass of water. I did have a gel 1 hour before the race, but I needed more food in me. Event comments: I had so much fun at this race, but since it's my first I don't have anything to compare it to. I felt like there were plenty of volunteers, and I think the Greer's did a great job organizing everything. I would definately do this race again! It was the perfect venue for my first tri!
