Swim
Comments: I had a pretty good swim for me. After I got out of the water, I thought I was the first one out of my wave but it turns out I wasn't first. Looking at the results, it doesn't look like too many people were ahead of me however. I executed two perfect "back flip" bouy turns that I had never even practiced before. Tim demostrated them to me on land friday night. What is the saying, nothing new on race day? nah, whats the fun in that? What would you do differently?: Not much. I didn't see anyone to draft with after the first turn so I couldn't draft there. Sighted well. Well except for that "little" bump against on of the bouys Transition 1
Comments: so when am I going to start to take my transitions seriously? Is it going to take losing a division place? The second place clyde out t1'ed me by over 30s. some of that was the wetsuit I'm sure, but i need to start keeping my shoes clipped in and jump on the bike What would you do differently?: see above. Bike
Comments: Not sure if I could have rode this harder. I did a lot of passing that is for sure. I even had to pass three cars/trucks on the course that were slowing for riders ahead of me. A lot of drafting going on by others on the course. I even got mixed up in a draft for a about 20-30s until I said, "F this" and hammered clear of that little group. What would you do differently?: Nothing much. Maybe pushed a little harder? Transition 2
Comments: who knows about the time. Felt about the same as usual. ie slow What would you do differently?: see comments regarding t1 Run
Comments: As much work I've done on the run, I was hoping for a better result than this. In this race it was actually my worse event in relation to the field. Now some of that could be due to t2 time being mixed into the run time. I know I should be happy with the time considering where I came from. In sept 07 I ran 8:27/mile for 5k in a sprint. Here I went 7:42(minus whatever t2 was). about the run. There was a pretty steep and quick hill right after t2. It hurt going down as I was trying to control myself and not fall. It hurt really bad running up it. I think that hill took a lot out of me and took me the next mile to recover. I felt that I actually got stronger and faster as the race went on. After that hill, the course was flat save for at mile 3. This time the hill was not as steep but I would guess it had about as much vertical climb as the first. here I felt much better on the descent and stronger going up. When I was on the climb, I came up to a runner and asked what division he was in. He replied he was in the 35-40 AG. When I told him I was in the Clyde div, He said "I think you won your division" It was kinda of funny. We exchanged a few more words with each other and then I pulled away from him. I saw Moe, Sean, Megan, and the rest of the gang again right before the finish. What would you do differently?: nothing much. I felt pretty good on the run. I just need to run more I guess Post race
Event comments: I hate to be critical of NCN but I have to. 1. no division markings. I mentioned this to Rick at the body marking station telling him "Hey, how will I know who to pass" He said "good point" and started to call back the few that had been marked already. I was like the 4th one to get marked. He then changed his mind. Ummm...was this his 1st race? 2. In complete timing. How is it t2 and run times combined? It is more than likely the timing companies fault, but wtf? 3. Cost. 65 bucks for a sprint is a little pricey for this area and the quality of the race. HFPs sprints are about 10 bucks cheaper. Overall a nice race and it was fun. I'll do it again so its so damn close to my house. Last updated: 2008-07-22 12:00 AM

Nothing special, woke up a little earlier than I wanted to(5:00a) and had some breakfast.
Rode my bike to the race. It was only 3 miles from my house. Seemed like a good warm-up
