  • 274 meters

Comments:

Overall pleased having not swam since Aug.
Transition 1
  • 00m 55s
What would you do differently?:

Use the rubber bands on the shoes tied to the skewers and incorporate the running mount.
Bike
  • 37m 20s
  • 12.6 miles
  • 20.25 mile/hr
Comments:

Enjoyed testing Murphs bike. Felt pretty good. Tired a little on the second lap until J passed me which was motivating. Tried to keep up with her knowing that she was flying. The push helped the avg overall. If it wasn't for her passing me I might have succumbed to the laziness. It's cool to see how the mind wills you to perform even though the body wasn't in the best shape. Having those long rides in the bag and knowing that you can ride at a fast cadence really helped me push the pace even though the body really wasn't prepared for it..plus the bike helped a ton.
What would you do differently?:

Train a few weeks out before the race.
Transition 2
  • 00m 48s
Comments:

Saw J in T2 felt queasy after eating a couple of shot blocks on the bike. Shoes were loose and slipped on quickly. Grabbed the cap and race belt and bolted out of t2.
Run
  • 28m 35s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 11s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt bad the first 3/4 to a mile. Stomach settled and my HR slowed. The back portion was much more familiar to my normal pace. Wish I could've felt as good as I did on the way back. Saw super girl on the way back and figured at least I'd beat a superhero; not so much as the 44 yr old passed me on the run within the last mile. Found out later that she passed Omar after wrecking on the bike...tough chick!
What would you do differently?:

Less shot blocks maybe grab a gu on the way out or use gu on the bike instead. Still pretty happy with the pace but know I could've done better which is frustrating. Still have to figure out the nutrition even on the short races.
Post race
Warm down:

Cheered on the boys as they finished and hazed a few aggies.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training.

Event comments:

Had a great time and glad I was there to experience it with everyone. I love doing these even with the late entry.
