Precipitation
Total Time = 1h 03m 34s
Overall Rank = 196/446
Age Group = Clydesdale
Age Group Rank = 19/40
Pre-race routine:

Showed up with wife and oldest daughter - watched the youth race - wow, what heart!
Event warmup:

Umm, that would be me waking up, driving there and removing outer layers 15 minutes before race starts (thinking it was about to start) and then freezing until it actually starts.
Swim
  • 11m 20s
  • 400 yards
  • 02m 50s / 100 yards
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

This was a reverse Tri and I'm not seeing a transition time recorded yet. Either way my transition between bike and swim was good although I learned that undoing velcro does aid and abet the process of removing biking shoes
What would you do differently?:

undo all velcro straps before hopping on one foot trying to remove bike shoes.
Bike
  • 39m 54s
  • 12 miles
  • 18.05 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

Nothing - practice before would have been good but I was happy with my performance since my "nubbies" on the back wheel held me on the road and didn't slow me down.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

K, this is actually my first transition from running to bike - it went really well.
Run
  • 12m 20s
  • 1.5 miles
  • 08m 13s  min/mile
Comments:

While 2 miles are good - 1.5 miles is better. Nice fun distance for the cyldesdale that I am :)
What would you do differently?:

Actually practice.
Post race
Warm down:

Passed out on the bleachers after rudely cutting off a little boy being followed by his family. After I sat down the recovery was good. Nap time was even better . . .

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Being fat and out of shape.

Event comments:

Great race specially since it was raining. Great Turkey day tradition to maintain.

Wow 50 yds is cool - long enough that I wondered when I'd get to the other side until I gave up on ever getting there and then smack my head, repeat.
Suit: basketball shorts
Course: 8 50 yd laps - you'd think since we didn't have to share a lane the other direction that it'd be smooth sailing - holy crap people were hacking me even when they had ample room to get around me. Lazy psycho-sucks. Then other times 3 slow guys would be swimming shoulder to shoulder as slow as molasses and I'd have to wait for the lane change to get past them.

Course: Good flat course. On the first 2 miles of each loop I could sail but then I'd slow down. Was going 21-22mph at first and then I'd trickle down to 18-19 on the last 2 miles of the loop. All of the slowing down for the wet sharp corners and speading back up etc took it's toll on overall avg speed.
