  • Comments: I ran this race for my buddy Eric, who is trying become a pro duathlete. It was a training race prior to 1/2 Ironman. I did good enough to win 1st place in Clydesdales. Not Bad.

  • Comments: Gets a 4 because of the 3 playgrounds close by for my son to play at and not cause too many problems. Also, I liked the course. Much better than what Race on the Base has become.

  • Comments: Registration- opened on Friday at 4 pm. I arrived at 530 pm and they were out of XL shirts. To me this is unacceptable. Fortunately, on race day they had more XL shirts and I was able to exchange my shirt. Race Day- no real complaints, it is getting a little crowded on the bike. Again, a big thank you to the organizer and all the volunteers. THANK YOU!

  • Comments: In all I had a good time. I could have left a lot more out on the course and probably should have, but it was the first tri this year, so as much as anything it was a good gauge of what the off season had done to me. Time to get back into shape. As far as the race went, it was wonderfully organized and on time. I would definitely recommend it to those looking for a good sprint and will likely go back next year.

  • Comments: Fun race. You can either come for a short laid back training day (what I should have done) or to hammer the whole thing (what I actually did). Either way, it makes for a good early season race.

  • Comments: As Scone can attest, it def sucks to put effort into the race and not having a result to show for it. The race organizers called out the wrong race number when I got out of the pool. I was race number 146 and they called out race number 140. Was a bit of a shock looking at the results page and knowing around what time I finished and having nothing to show for it. I am pretty sure I finished 11th overall and 3rd in my age group, but with the race number mix up no hardware for me. Oh well, I know how I did, and its a good learning expirence for next race. Really liked the race and the course, but def a bit bummed in not having a result. Live and Learn I guess.

  • Comments: This has to be one of my best Triathlons ever! I hit some Personal Bests on this race. I guess the course being a 'home' course or training area for me had a lot to do with how I planned to do this race and I'm thankful for that. I do all my BRick workouts at the Rose Bowl and my race plan was to go all out. No 'saving' myself for the bike or swim. Just let it all out on every single event. My only issue I had with race day was the fact that I scheduled two triathlons within 5 days apart! Mental note - do not schedule two triathlons within a week apart! Why? Well, as I started my run, I realized that I was NOT fully recovered from the UCLA Triathlon after only 5 days rest. That being said... I had a plan to go all out on the run. And that's what I did. Coming up to the first mile I felt like maybe it was not a good idea! I was teetering with an 8 minute mile and decided that if I just get to the top and around the bend, I can cruise down and not work as hard and still maintain

  • Comments: This was a great fun race that I'll never get proper age group credit for because they fu_cked up my swim split and I have no overall time. I was probably somewhere in the top third of my AG, I was 139 out of 550 going into the swim, which is right at the top 25 percent, so with my janky swim I probaly ended up at least in the top third of finishers, but I'll never f-ucking know. You can probably discern from my attitude in this report that I'm relatively p-issed off that I had my best tri so far and have nothing to show for it except my own claims. One thing that was great was that my wife said "I'm proud of your finish, you died in the pool because you gave your absolute all, you didn't hold anything back, and that's how you're supposed to compete." That made me feel good. So to the a-sshole timers I say that usually when someone gives it to me the hard way they buy me dinner, but I'll get over it, and my goal is to come back next year and finish under an hour.
