  • Comments: Great event. In the end I did get first place of all the old guys, so I won $150. Finally got a little back for all I've put into this crazy sport. For future races: skip the early morning Ensure and coffee. Tape everything on the bike and keep things simple at transition.

  • Comments: The main concerns I had coming in were with the bike course. I read reviews that a lot of people flatted and some people had to stop at intersections. I didn't see anything like that. The bike course was a little bumpy, but not bad. I didn't see any flats and they were great about stopping traffic. The volunteers and support were great. The only complaint of the day would be with the swim course. They didn't start setting out the bouys until 7 (time it was supposed to be starting). Then they changed the course to what had been posted. Made for some confusion, but w/ my sighting skills, I don't know that it would have made a difference. Other than that mistake, it was a good race.

  • Comments: The race started really late. They didn't have the water buoys set up until 7:30. The RD gave a funny and entertaining speech. They let anybody in the Transition area which I hated. The transition area was in a good spot and seemed to be big enough. The Porta Potties were a little too far from the transition area and there were only 2 of them, but they did have the public bathrooms open so that was nice. They also didn't have a water station at the transition area. Parking was good. Not sure they had a lot of stuff for the family and kids to do while the race was going on. The swim exit should have had better marking to sight like some big balloons. The run aid stations were fantastic and all the volunteers were great. Maybe a few more on the bike would have been nice. There were a lot of turns on the bike but they were pretty well marked. I just brain farted and wasn't paying attention when i missed the turn (totally my fault) not the course markings. There were 2 cattle guards covered

  • Comments: The buoys weren't even in the water when the race was supposed to start. Only 2 volunteers at the Bike aid station, I stopped just to make sure I got what I needed. No gels at the bike aid station. The run was very well supported.

  • Comments: I did this race in 2011 and swore I wouldn't do it again because of the poor organization. I let my brother talk me into again. MISTAKE!!! Last year the race was almost 3 miles short on the bike and .25 short on the run. The pre-race brief was ridiculously long, but it was obvious they were stalling because the buoys weren't in the water until well after 7 am. This year the swim started 45 minutes late (just like last year) and was .2 miles long. RIDICULOUS. They moved the transition area this year, which was a huge improvement. Must closer to the swim exit. The ride was spot on 56 miles this year. A couple road hazards weren't marked and I saw several people flat at them and water bottles all over the place. THE RUN WAS .3 MILES LONG. UNACCEPTABLE!!!! It's a nice run course and shouldn't be hard for them to figure out. Last year it was short and this year it was too long. Good course with good support. If RACETRI could figure out how to start a race on time and mark the proper

  • Comments: Being this as my first triathlon at this distance, my stress level was high off the roof trying to figure out the bike course. The course map they had (its was a PDF) was very hard to make out what road/street to turn on, especially in the city area. One of the reasons why I did even look at the run course, I was very stress out that I would get lost and being in the city area, I was concern about safety. I wish that they had given us turn by turn direction. They did however have several people and officer at all major intersection and turns. This is something the race director couldn't control but we did start about 30 late. I heard that park ranger/habor master wanted to make sure the swim was safe and ready to go. What ever that mean? I did noticed as I was walking to swim start that buoys weren't even set out. My bike computer and garmin as well as on FB showed that the course may have been on the short side. A Elite athlete also mention the swim felt about 100yds short. Does matter

  • Comments: The bike course was unsafe with pot holes and cattle guards uncovered. Many people crashed, lost water bottles and nutrition, and flatted.

  • Comments: I loved that it was a 1/2 only. No Sprints or Olys. Taking nothing from them, because I love those as well, but looking around, everone just seemed to be on a different level. It was a fun day - It's what I've spent the last 8 months training for. I trained so that I could enjoy the day, not just survive it. I didn't want to finish, miserable with no desire to go back. In fact, I'm left me wanting more. My next goal.... the FULL MONTY, Next August..... For my 41st b-day.

  • Comments: I did this 45 minutes faster than last year, so I have to feel good about that. Still, SO MUCH to improve on...

  • Comments: I could see they were running out of water at the aid stations durning my run....I bet they ran out for the later runners. Not good. The rough road was taxing. It wasn't the best organized race I've done, but it was ok (I've been spoiled on my long courses!). Bottom line, my long course season is OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
