  • Comments: Always a good race, surprisingly well-organized for such a large event. Still have some bugs to work out, though. First, they still have subtantial (up to 50 minutes) delays getting cars into the site and parked. More importantly, it would be nice if they could limit motor vehicle traffic on the bike loop to one direction. That would prevent all the congestion in the bike lane. Here's a few "official" race photos, some of them are actually me: http://www.brightroom.com/view_user_event.asp?EVENTID=10738&PWD=&ID...

  • Comments: This was a fantastically well-run race by Sportspectrum. I guess after 26 years, you tend to iron out a lot of issues. It was well-staffed, organized and lots of fun. Because of all the life changes we've gone through over the last few weeks, I had no real expectations of myself going in this race except a poor performance. But I really surprised myself by having one of my best performances ever. Like I said before, I felt more relaxed during this race than I have in the last 8 weeks. I always say I'm trying to compete in triathlons for fun. This is the first race I can truly say I had a blast from start to finish.

  • Comments: I love RiverCities. The only downside is that this is such a huge triathlon that it was easy to get lost. I was a bit bummed out that I didn't get to hang out with anyone....my tri friends or my BT contacts! I was so lonely!!!!! Wahhhhh!!! Well, it was hard to find people in the crowd and everyone seemed really focused on the triathlon ahead. I did finally catch up with some of the girls on the beach before the waves went on, but I missed all the hanging out I got to do at the smaller triathlon (Jefferson). And for sure next year I'm going to meet up with the other BTers (if they will still befriend me!). This was actually my best triathlon to date and it was sweet to compete and come home knowing this because I really didn't "feel" this triathlon at the beginning. I am psyched to continue training and improving my times. I know next year will be even better!!!!

  • Comments: I am giving this race a high rating. It did start a few minutes late but that is forgivable. I have never seen so many volunteers. The swim was easy to sight, the bike was on good roads (once out of the park area), and the run was shaded for 95%. The swag bag was the best I have ever seen. While I don't do races for swag, this may be the exception. Overall I could have done a good 2-3 minutes faster if I hadn't forgot my sun glasses and the fiasco following. I had a good effort and a decent time for me , for a sprint. One of these days I'm going to be able to push myself out of my comfort level for the entire time and knock off 15 minutes.

  • Comments: It's a large race, but that's part of what makes it great -- all the other athletes, and all the spectators. Everything was well organized, and well executed. It showed that this team has been putting on the race for many years. The race was slightly delayed (~25min, see the comments in the swim section), but everything ran smoothly once we started. Of course, the goody bag was great. This year's swag included a rolling duffel, 2 t-shirts, sunglasses, running shorts, running socks, canteen-shaped plastic water bottle, a cap (not technical), some Clif Shot samples, and a poster. There were also Finisher medals for those who did. BT had a good turnout. I only with I could have found more of you on race morning to have said hello.

  • Comments: I really like this race! I think it is set up to be pretty fast. There are plenty of volunteers and race staff to help along all courses and in transition.

  • Comments: This was a VERY well put together race. It was all in the details. From the excellent race packet to the amount and quality of aid stations (4 for a 5k), excellent volunteers, and just overall atmosphere, this was by far the best race I've been in!

  • Comments: Best run race in USA. The storm that came through the night before just proved what a great race this really is and how well it's run. Not to mention the goody bag is incredible and the course is awesome. It filled up in 3 hours this year and I would expect it to fill at least that fast next year.

  • Comments: Got in on Friday and went to pick up my packet. No lines! Nice swag. Did chores for mom on Saturday, and ate at Monjunies early. Went to bed around 9:00. Didn't sleep terribly well. Got up and ate a little and loaded up my bike and pack. Got Jennifer up and we drove over to pick up my friend Lisa who wanted to watch with Jennifer. I ended up driving even thought I knew I was going to freak out if we hit traffic...which we did on the road going into the Park. It was so backed up they had to delay the start. We parked and I got my stuff and we walked to transition. While I was getting set up, that Toby Keith song was playing, "I wanna talk about me." I got marked in a jiffy and rehearsed the transition route. I was on the outside about 5 racks to the run exit. Lisa and Jennifer scouted out the park's restrooms and said it was an unpleasant experience, so I opted for the porta potties. Went down to the beach and swam a bit. Water was warm, but only mid-arm visability. The

  • Comments: There is a reason why this is the #1 rated Sprint triathlon in the South and one of the top ten Triathlons in the USA. The goody bag is, BY FAR, the best goody bag you will get. The swim is well marked and easy to sight. The bike course is on another level from other races. It's simply made for Triathlons. It would be incredile if all traffic was diverted but understand you can't do that. The run was shaded and well marked with plenty of aid stations and cold towels soaking in ice. If you are looking for a race that has all that a race should have, this is it. Also, the kids race on Saturday was a dream for my 8 year old's first triathlon. She says she is hooked for life!

  • Comments: Given the size of the race it is exceptionally well run. All 3 courses are well marked and I especially liked the miles being painted on the road on the bike. I wish everyone would do that. Plenty of food, great music, excellent race announcer, unrivaled goody bag, well marshalled bike course, very professionally done. The negatives are minimal but so you know, plan to arrive earlier than normal. The entry to the park and the parking area bottlenecks pretty bad and parking takes a while. They actually take parking tickets going into the park which slows the process even more. 1200 people on this size course is incredibly difficult and these guys do it wonderfully.

  • Comments: This was, to date, the biggest and the best triathlon I've done, 1,300 athletes, a logistical nightmare, yet nearly everything went like clockwork. Only major complaint I heard was the long lines in your car waiting to get in the park. That delay caused the race director to push back the start by about fifteen minutes. Great organization, great swag, finisher's medal, good food. I'm already planning to do this one again next year!

  • Comments: It was so much fun to finally meet several BT'ers. The bear? Cajun pussycat, really (sorry...my comments are direct, yada, yada, yada). The bear's wife rocks. She really needs to start posting here. She's beautiful AND funny. I'm a het girl, but I always love the combo. Oh, and the bear had a great race as well. OldAg? Total stud. He'd be a Junction Boy in the day. Wish I could have talked to him more but post-race craziness (trying to find my family)....He did really, really well. Javelin should be paying him. Really. Waskelton y esposa? Totally cute. Yes, you're a stud, too, Wa. Were you the one who kept passing me on the bike? You always talk like you're a sausage, but you so aren't. You looked great today. Really. Your beautiful wife really needs to step up and kick both of our a**es at this tri thing. She sure looks like she could. And Michael, Michael, Michael. Could anybody get more unlucky?! Three flats? Congrats, your next three years will be glitch-free.

  • Comments: This was a super race....totally first class and well-organized, from packet pick-up, to fantastic swag, to a great set-up and challenging fun course. It was just a total blast to do. Fellow BTers, I enjoyed getting to know all of you. You are a first class group of people, and I can't wait to see all of you again!
