  • Comments: I love this race. I think it is a great value ($30 for military) and very well organized and supported. I just went out there and had a good time. I know it's a 'race' and all but it was a huge win for me to toe the line after all that has gone on this year. I am thankful for all of the support and advice my BT friends have given me through this really hard time.

  • Comments: I really enjoyed the race and thought they did a nice job of putting it on. Very newbie friendly and very competitive as well. Nice mix of participants. I would definitely do it again. On a personal note I'm really pleased with placing 22nd on my first traithlon. I think thats a strong performance and just makes the top ten percent of the field. Considering I've been following a half ironman training plan for several weeks now and just did a two day block of training that included a 60 mile ride / 3 mile run brick followed the next day with a 13 mile run on the thursday/friday before the Sunday race I think I should be really pleased with my performance. With a proper taper I expect I could be faster... but theres no time for that. The 1/2 is in six weeks and thats my priority. • Comments: I can't pint point what was wrong, because I felt kind of weird the whole time but I can't complain about my performance because it was pretty good. The race was pretty good, and I will be doing next year without a doubt.

  • Comments: They put on a good show in Newport. Not enough bathrooms. The run course was a bit cramped but otherwise OK.

  • Comments: I am pleasantly suprised at how well the race went organization wise. IOther than a few hiccups (common and easily overcome for next time) I think they did an awesome job for a first time event. I was dissapointed that one of the sponsors was Sam Adams and there was no beer at the end, but heh, I got over it. This event will only get bigger and better with the coming years, I predict. The RD is already working on adding a youth race next year and as long as the Navy is involved it has to have a decent organization to it. Heard a couple people comment that it was cool to run with the two aircraft carriers as a back drop. I highly recommend this race to anyone that can make it.

  • Comments: For a first time triathlon on Naval Station Newport, they sure pulled off a FABULOUS job! Lots of great things in the goodie bag including a technical, long sleeved shirt. This race is CHEAP, and to get good stuff like that is wonderful. Very well run and organized. Great food options at end of race. Highly recommend it!

  • Comments: For a first time event, this was a great race. There were very few issues. One being no port-a-potties available and the other was no dismount line. Lots of aide stations, great course and great people. Definitely will do this one next year and suggest it to everyone I know. Had a great time!

  • Comments: This was a really good race. I am very happy with the swim and the bike...the run, not so much. I usually can judge how I did from my wife's reaction. She seem genuinely surprised where I finished...quite honestly so was I. For a first year race this was outstanding. Two words: omlet station. Yes...at the finish they had cooks doing omlets and pancakes. Plenty of everything. Very nice.
