  • Comments: I thought that this was a very well run race. I was able to print out my splits and time minutes after finishing the race, which I thought was really awesome. There were no finisher awards, but I got a running hat for winning my age group. My only concern about the entire race was that the transition area was not "secure", anyone can really walk in and out without anyone second guessing. It was not an issue, but I would be a little nervous about that if I had a really expensive bike and/or equipment.

  • Comments: I like this race because it is fairly close to home and the course is nice along the river. It's very low key, in some ways a little too low key, like transition. Anyone, and I do mean anyone (even multiple family members/friends per racer) is free to go in and out of transition before and after the race, there is no security or people watching or verifying equipment in/out. Yeah, most people are trustworthy but there's always a few bad apples.

  • Comments: One of my favorite races. REALLY had issues with shallow water and I'm not sure why they dont do better with Buoys. Need to line them up and keep swimmers away from shore line.

  • Comments: On the way home my husband and I were discussing our individual experiences of the day and after pieceing these sightings together we came to the conclusion that something bad had happened on the swim. The fire truck and ambulances I saw on the bridge were actually coming to the race site and the boat ramp. The divers, although I don't think they were utilized, were there just in case. My husband and another fellow had heard cries for help as they walked from the swim start back to the other end of the island. Later he saw people being seated into police cars and driven away (family members). I hoped for the best and kept checking local news sites. Eventually it came out that a man had been pulled from the water and taken to a local hospital but passed away - fresh water drowning. The news greatly saddened me and shook me. I cried for him and his family, who had been there watching. I didn't know him or them, but felt sadness just the same. We often hear of tragedies in races

  • Comments: Great people and one of my favorite race courses. I waited for 90 minutes afterwards for finish awards and ended up leaving. They need to do something differently there....otherwise, perfect.

  • Comments: Lots of things I do like about this race (location being one of them), just a few I don't. Don't like the complete lack of athlete verification in transition. Anyone could take anything. They don't check to make sure you are a participant nor do they check to make sure what you are taking out is yours. The other thing is the long delay for awards (not that I win any, but my friends do). They have a kids' race right after the last adult biker is off the course and they wait until the kids' race is over to do awards and door prizes. Basically everyone is gone save most of the award winners and their family or friends. Not sure how they could fix the logistics of this.

  • Comments: This course is flat and fast and the volunteers are great I think this is probably the best beginner tri in the area

  • Comments: Love the race being in and near the Susquehanna, so that earned the race the 4 rating! Met a fellow BT'er (sorry I don't think I got your name or else forgot it in the pre-race nerves!) and a very nice couple from Oxford who we stood around and chatted with for a while.

  • Comments: The race is fast and is for a good cause but the post race activities is basically zero. They have some begals sitting on a table and that is about it. Have some music and a person announcing the finishers. THe little things keep people around to cheer on others.

  • Comments: Great local race. Non USAT race which makes things more low key. Kids race was a great idea and I plan on having my kids do that race when they get older. Highly recommended for a first timer or an experienced triathlete looking for a low key race with a good vibe.

  • Comments: Like the course. Great to work on my major "swim" weakness and then fly on bike and run. Tough to go fast enough while doing all slow IM training runs/bikes though. As always, had fun.

  • Comments: Enjoyed this race. My first tri in non-raining weather. First flat tri. Training with 2 kids (2 and 5 months) is tough, especially with a 1+ hour commute that i have. I need to drop 10 more pounds and think that will help as well. This is my first year in tris, so i consider this my best race so far. Will probably do this one again next year.

  • Comments: Well, considering I was barefoot for the entire race I am actually happy with the results. I finished in 1:34 and my "wearing shoes goal" was 1:35. The shoe thing did prevent me from really pushing myself physically, but all in all I am okay with the way it turned out. By far the best part of the race (in addition to seeing Abby and Eli cheer for me) were the direct comments, spectator whispers, and curious looks I received. The best by far was "Wow, going oldschool, nice!" I actually had to laugh as the guy who said it flew past me on his bike. Oh well, on to Pinchot in September.

  • Comments: This was a great race for my first race. I will be doing other triathlons. Actually for this one, Heidi and I are going to do it as a team. I will do the swim and run, she will do the bike.
