  • Comments: Awesome race, with lots of people and volunteers. It was by far the biggest race I've ever been involved with.

  • Comments: I think the CapTexTri was really hard to pull for the organizers as there were about 3,000 participants and thousand more spectators for the event. It was really enjoyable and one of the largest races I have ever down. There was some disorganization this year with timing, male/female mix-ups, registration issues for some due to computer difficulties, and apparently a police officer on a jet ski mislead the pros on the swim portion. Andy Potts apparently ignored him and finished the swim portion correctly despite almost being run over by the jet ski. So there was some miscommunication, but I think some of this is to be expected with such a large event. I'll be back next year if I can swing it around work.

  • Comments: Poor pre-race information. No one could tell me the day before the race some important things like when transition would close. Then, on race day, I was given incorrect information and told transition would close 30 minutes before it did. Staff were not terribly helpful at answering questions and were unnecessarily rude to many participants and family members. The race did not seem very well-organized and the slow posting of results, even preliminary ones, has borne that out. I used to love this race, but I might not do it again.

  • Comments: The expo the day before was great. Lots of good deals. Very big race with lots of participants and spectators. Was nice to ride around the capital. Very cool! Would do again for sure.

  • Comments: I loved the race. I was a huge event (3 races) but I thought it was well run and well organized. Great swag - t-shirt, hat, socks, two water bottles, medal. I loved the venue and will definitely be back to do it again next year!

  • Comments: This was my second Tri. It was harder than the first (Gateway to the Bay). Heat and hills made it harder. Having three different race distances in one day made for a late start time and crowded bike course. If I do this next year plan is for Olympic distance and get hotel closer to event location.

  • Comments: I had the preparation to finish this race in 55 minutes, but I was slower on every single portion of the race. My mental conditioning was not there and the heat got to me.

  • Comments: Rain and stormy weather are always an issue for this race, but the weather conditions were better this year than last. This is a large race with a lot of competitors in all of the events. It is also a good race for spectators, but can be complicated due to its size and number of both participants and spectators alike. I really appreciated all of the volunteers who helped and cheered us along. There efforts really help to make this a first class race and a lot of fun.

  • Comments: Look forward to doing this race next year. Seeing the pros up close inspires me to train even harder. Now I know this is a sport and that I am not a rookie anymore. I am a triathlete. Thank you Beginner Triathlete.

  • Comments: I enjoyed this race. It was nice to be around all the athletes both newbies and professionals. I enjoyed the announcement of my name as I exited the swim as well. The crowd was very supportive, it really made a difference. I will do this race again next year. Since I stayed at the host hotel, getting to/from the race was a breeze for myself and my family.

  • Comments: OTHER than the bike mishap, the race went well and seemed to be well organized. There were lots of volunteers. There was plenty of water on the run which was important in the heat; and, plenty of post-race food. I will participate next year.

  • Comments: 2006 has been a good year so far. I qualified for Boston and my Pikes Peak training is going well. But getting over the mental block of the swim in this race may be the biggest acheivement. I can now look at the triathlon as another event to work on and push the envelope. Who knows, maybe an Ironman is out there somewhere with my name on it!
