  • Comments: I really enjoyed the race and location, this year and last year. Very good event to bring the family, since it is on the beach and they have a turtle release afterwards. DRC (last year) seemed to be more organized than Setup this year. This is Setup's first year in GA so maybe with some more experience for the GA crew, it should only get better.

  • Comments: I love Jekyll Island. With the new Great Dunes Park, Hampton Inn & Suites and 22 miles of bike trails it's a great place to visit with family. I've raced here four times now and highly recommend it! I won the sprint which is my first time on the podium and first win after 13 years in the sport and over 30+ triathlons - at the age of 42. There is life after 40 for "average" athletes!

  • Comments: starting two events in diffrent locations on beach with diffrent waves was a little confusing and there was little dirrection for Sprint from staff.

  • Comments: This was my first podium finish in tri!!! I ranked 2nd in AG, but got the 1st place trophy since the top finisher won 2nd overall in Master's. The swim was poorly managed: not enough rescue crew made a touch swim just scary for some people! Also, buoys were set too far out, so I believe we swam more than 600 yards. Not enough buoys, nobody could see where they were supposed to go due to lack of markers and chop. The rest was awesome. GREAT after party w/beer truck!

  • Comments: I was very surprised at the limited number of jet skis, kayaks, etc on the swim. I only saw two before we began the swim and never saw one once I was in the water. Since I left before the post race activities began I didn't know that I finished 3rd in my age group until the results were posted on-line Monday morning. I have emailed the RD to see if they will mail whatever prize they gave for AG awards. My wife has decided we are coming back in October for the Red Cross Tri and 5K. I will have revenge on this ocean swim and she will get her offical time on the run!

  • Comments: This was a fantastic event. It was well organized, and Jekyll is a great venue for a triathlon. I'll be back next year. There were plenty of volunteers. Even some of the locals were cheering on the back side of the island. I learned a lot from my first triathlon, and can't wait to do it again! It was one of the hardest yet most rewarding things I've ever done.
