  • Comments: I love this race. It was my first four years ago and I travel back to see the improvement I've made over the years. Pretty good -- over 20% better time over the last four years!

  • Comments: Delayed start of race to await more sun prior to start -- good call. I love this race -- the shorter swim and bike really help me excel.

  • Comments: This officially marks two full years of competing in tri's. My time progression here at the Tri-Cooter: 10/26/08 - 1:21:23 10/25/09 - 1:16:45 10/31/10 - 1:07:27 I also set a new PR for run pace, got my first ever AG hardware at a race where I actually beat someone (previous awards were 2/2, 3/3, etc.), and for the first time ever I beat all of the women. Alas, now I've set myself a higher standard to live up to, so back to training tomorrow.

  • Comments: I was very happy with my time. This was my second tri. I got a very bad attitude on the first tri when I struggled so much with the run. But the negative attitude was gone this time. The weather was perfect. We were scared out of our minds on how cold it might be, enough to make us thinking of leaving. Turns out, the weather will be the reason we do it again. I love not feeling like I am going to pass out from the heat.

  • Comments: Overall, I loved this race and will return next year. It was a great way to combine family and racing and they really enjoyed the spectator friendly atmosphere and activities of the Cooter Festival.

  • Comments: I really like this race. I prefer the course to Crystal River (by the same race director), and the double entendre of the Cooter Festival makes it a really fun event.

  • Comments: Great little sprint when the weather is getting cold in the rest of the country. And come on, it's officially called "The Great American Cooter Triathlon." They're aware of the double meaning, and they embrace it.

  • Comments: Well run race. DRC did a great job. Good prerace instructions. Swim course was awesome, had buoys on both sides to help with navigation. Bike was great road, first half was closed to traffic, police protection at all intersections. Run was good too. This was the first year of this race and it went off perfectly, no first year issues. Only about 60 people but a very fun race. The awards were done quickly and the prizes were good. I placed 3rd in my age group. This is the first time I have ever placed in a triathlon and a great way to close the year.
