  • Comments: This race is fabulous! The course is stunning and challenging… There was some confusion regarding timing at the awards but the weather was so beautiful we just enjoyed our time in the sunshine hanging out with the family.

  • Comments: This is a well organized race with lots of great volunteers and some good loot bag items. The race shirt was quite thin compared to other shirts from other events, but they also provided a nice fleece vest (in addition to race hardware). I went vegetarian this year, so I really noticed the meat only dishes at the pre-race dinner and post race event. I could have sworn I saw vegetarian lasagna at last year's pre-race dinner! But the lack of vegetarian fare is just a small thing given it's all about the race.

  • Comments: Soon after I was done they held the awards ceremony for the Olympic race. They used to do this on the evening of the race, but have now opted to do it post-race. BUT - they didn't get around to doing the awards ceremony for the 119.1 distance until a few hours later. I don't mind sticking around for a little while, but after racing for 5hrs, then sitting out in the cool wind after - also having a kid that needed a nap and a wife that's been standing in the cold for several hours...I was impatient and just wanted to go home. As I was walking away to leave I finally hear them start the awards ceremony so I walk back to collect my 3rd place AG "trophy". It was a native carving of a guy in a canoe. Not my type of thing, but whatevs. I won't be doing this race next year if it's the same weekend as Banff Bike Fest again. If the RD was smart he'd move it to another weekend and he'd likely see more guys sign up. Plenty of people I know opted to do Banff Bike Fest instead of this rac

  • Comments: Didn't hang around for the draw prizes, but it seems like a good race - certainly less hassle and more food/stuff than the IM 70.3 Calgary. Just not sure why they make the bike 6km longer. That's about 12 mins extra time for no reason (the place they have the turn around isn't anywhere convenient.

  • Comments: You never run a perfect race. This is the third time I have come here and I always enjoy it though matter what happens. I am most heartened by the fact that my body can take the punishment and they can train hard summer. The volunteers organization and overall atmosphere of this race makes it truly pleasurable experience. Between my roomies and my bus people this race was the most fun I ever had this year at this race.

  • Comments: Last year I did Morden in 7:11:24...The bike was 6k shorter and the swim 100m shorter at Morden. I did this longer race in 6:20:15. The results speak for themselves. Great race. Even better racing side by side with Nick and Highwaydog. This was a formative race for me.

  • Comments: Now, the race itself was superb. This is a very challenging course and of the 10 people who came out with me last year, for a variety of reasons, none came back out this year. Mike Bock organized a great couple days including on-line registration, informative emails, good web sight, race kit pickup, swim practices, pre and post race banquets, swag, medals and a host of other things. The volunteers were the finest kind. They are out there to help and encourage and made it a very positive experience for me and everyone else. I'll be back!

  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: The course was truly the greatest physical challenge I'd ever had. So when I say it was too hard for my abilities, it is not a critique of the course, merely of myself and my abilities, at this point. My decision making in some spots was poor, due to lack of experience, but I'd rather be brutally honest and learn from this experience than kid myself and say I'm ready for IM2006. Overall, I really did exceed my expectations, and learned so much. Gotta thank Crazycanuck for getting me into this. We had a great time!
