  • Comments: Mountain Man was my first tri last year (sprint) and is a wonderful race in a beautiful location--which also happens to be my training area. So I love this one! It helps to live at this altitude too. The weather was great (overcast and cool) until just after most Olympians were done. Then a huge storm hit and soaked the poor HIM folks out on the run.

  • Comments: The only thing negative I can say is that the transition area was too small for the number of racers. The bike racks were packed and bowing in the middle due to the weight. This made many bikes lay at an angle and clooged the transition area. More room please!!! Other than that - - it was a great race. Cool temps, beautiful scenery on the course, and hills that were frickin' hard! I'd do this one again!

  • Comments: All-in-all this was a great race for me I was happy with my swim and run times, just because in the swim I was able to swim 1500 meters and know I should be able to swim another 400 meters. In the run I was able to run that far at a good pace and on rolling hills. If t were a flat surface I should be able to run 12-13 minutes miles..

  • Comments: Despite my performance I rate this race as the #3 Oly I have done behind Great Lake Escape and Escape from Alcatraz. I love a challenging course, and with a little more organization and support on the swim this could be a great race.

  • Comments: It was a beautiful and challenging course. They could have used a few more volunteers, and a louder PA system, but overall it was nice. I beat my Show Low time by 25:35 (see what NOT walking on the run will do?) so I am very pleased with that.

  • Overall course based on my ability:

  • Comments: I mailed my registration two months ago and should have followed up via phone/email because I was not in the books at packet pickup. Therefore, I had to shell out $100 to race instead of $70 (that's why I registered so early). When you factor in the altitude, this is a difficult race. I think it was just what I needed for the Vineman, I'm ready to go out steady and strong in two weeks.

  • Comments: I'd rate this course hard due to it's 7,000ft elevation and hills on the bike and the one steep dang hill on the run. Overall a good race to do. I'd recommend it to do at least once. Of course I'm going to have to do it next year to see how I improved.
