  • Comments: The course for this race is beautiful, and held at one of the prettiest times of the year, spring, when the flowering trees in the park are all in bloom and the other trees have bright green buds. Daffodils and other spring flowers are showing off their beauty, too. The route winds through parks, by gurgling creeks, through a covered bridge, and along some interesting sights. It's a mix of asphalt and crushed stone trails. For visual enjoyment I'd give this race a 5!

  • Comments: A lot can be learned from this race, I think, I just need more time to flesh it out. Mentally I took a pretty big hit from this race and struggled with a lot of things that I need to work out. To add insult to injury, my race shirt, my first half marathon race shirt, is a women's XL, which would normally be OK but in this case isn't. The thing is tighter than I like and short: the sleeves look like 3/4 sleeves on my arms. Sigh, the woes of being an Amazon. Only good things to say about the race itself. This was an absolutely beautiful, scenic course with nice crowd support on the road areas and great volunteers. The bands made the day even better, and there was quite a variety: native-style drummers (using what looked to be real skin drums), rock (some small and some larger bands), acoustic, a string quartet, a gospel singer in a 3-piece suit, guitar/banjo combo to name some of them. Springtime with the blooming trees and fresh, budding leaves made the course so stunning. Well-run,

  • Comments: Food wasn't that great, and it's no fun walking down those stadium steps to leave, either, but overall it's a great event.

  • Comments: Very good race with a huge group of volunteers. Multiple bands playing through out the course. Nice to run on a completely closed course although it was a little crowded at the beginning of the trail portion even though it was about 1/2 way through the course. Nice stadium finish on the track - great for spectators.Food is all vegetarian after the race (haven't figured out why??) and was all good. Muffin tops...mmmmm. Lines were long for food though. Heard the expo on Saturday was good but did not get down there to see it. Great race overall.

  • Comments: I was a little worried that my effort in the Cherry Blossom 10-miler two weeks ago would adversely affect this race. If it did, I didn't notice. I felt better than I did for that race.

  • Comments: Great Great race. If anyone lives within 2 hours of this race you should do it. It's a great race, and a great way to build a solid running base before the tri season starts.

  • Comments: The race was well run. I will definitely do it again. I have come a long way in one year. Last year on a super flat course I ran a 2:32. To cut 25 minutes off my time last year feels great. All the training and hard work paid off. Sometime back in December I stumbled upon a BT Mentor thread and that has changed a lot of things about how I train and log my workouts. I owe a lot to madcow's group -- thanks! The best part of the day was having Bridget there to support me. The whole ride home I re-capped the race for her. She has been supportive of all my training and it was great to have her there on race day.
