  • Comments: Good organization. Maybe it was because I was the last heat in the long course and slower than most, everything was over by the time I finished. No real post race activities. Plus, the crummy weather probably motivated most to go home instead of stick around.

  • Comments: This race had the most volunteers I have ever seen at a race. It was very good to see them out there. They cheered you on which helps keeping you going. The course was good, after race was good too. Some reason they merged the competitive and age groupers together in the standings after the race was over, which is weird.

  • Comments: I think they had vegetarian food, but I wasn't hungry. Could be a fast course, but the bike is too short for me to consider this a PR.

  • Comments: Race directors should get the distances right. An olympic should be 1.5k, 40k, 10k. 40k is 24.8 miles, not under 23.

  • Comments: Over all the RACE was very well run. tons of volunteers. I think that might have been the best managed bike course i have been on, that is not a closed course. However the confusion about awards and giving wrong awards to wrong people is inexcusable. take the time to get it right the first time. and when you screw up go get it fixed right and not screw it up the second time also. This is the first time i did well enough to think i deserved an award. I saw not a single person in my age group pass me. I am confident that most if not all will not beat me out of the water, so if i see you pass me on the bike or the run, then i can count my places. then to give out age group awards to Elite entries, and then a 3rd place award to someone that was not even in my age group, was very disappointing. Then when the results are finally posted, later that evening, i find out i was third..... that got me a little fired up. Oh well a little training motivation i guess.

  • Comments: I enjoyed the race. I would like to see something big on the beach for me to aim for. This is a big improvement over my 2010 lifetime Oly where I ate a burrito the night before and cramped on the swim. Fun to see people I know out there and competitors and volunteers were very positive.

  • Comments: Nice race and a great campground. My goal is to come back in 2012 for the half, as was the plan for 2011. Now that I've scoped out the venue and the course, I'll be more confident about the longer distance. The bike course is a bit rolly, but nothing too awful.

  • Comments: Bit of a screw up getting times up. Left before I knew my time. But otherwise very good. Beautiful course.

  • Comments: This race was taken over by Final Stretch this year, and I think they do a bangup job. Right on time, awesome stops on the run (every mile!), great volunteers, etc. I love racing at Baker Park. I wasn't a huge fan of the food this year, but they seem open to ideas so I will let them know my opinion. For the first time in 3 tries I left this race feeling satisfied. No mistakes by me, just did what I could on this day and happy for some improvement.

  • Comments: I am super happy with the way this turned out. I had knee surgery 8 months ago (ACL replacement). I thought not only was my fitness not back to where it was but that my knee just wasn't up to snuff. I've been only running 3 times a week (which is very little running for me) and my longest run preparing for this race was 5.8 miles. In February I was still on a run/walk plan for rehab of the knee surgery. I seriously could not be happier. Before the race I told my dad I'd do cartwheels if I beat my time from last years oly (which was before the knee injury and surgery) and somehow I managed to come in more than 1 minute faster. I passed on the cartwheels after the race but am VERY VERY happy. Looking forward to 2 more sprints this summer and possibly another olympic!

  • Comments: I need to not look at other peoples times in these races. I leave the race feeling like I've done a good job, made a ton of progress, etc. Then I see the standings and feel like an ass. I can decide to either just not care or only enter races full of newbies. At least this year I have a couple "easy" races thrown in to help my ego.

  • Comments: I thought this was a fantastic race. It was very well organized and all the courses were great. The field was very competitive since it was the MN USAT National Championship Age Group Qaulifier. I will for sure be back next year.

  • Comments: Other than one section of woodchips on a steep hill during the run, i really can't think of anything I didn't like about this race. I hope to do it again, perhaps the half IM next time?

  • Comments: Very impressed with race overall. My attitude was good and considering I managed only the minimum amount of training, I'm fine with the outcome. I landed inside my 3-3:30 window and wasn't totally dead afterwards. I look forward to doing this one again and improving!

  • Comments: One telling remark from a couple of the course volunteers, when they asked me what I'd done. I said I didn't know if I'd pulled a hammy of just caught a cramp. "Oh. Do we have a first aid tent?" one asked the other "I don't know" was the reply
