  • Comments: I love this race and will return for another. This is the perfect venue for a first Ironman because of the fan support and for the veterans it offers a challenging course with great crowd support. Did I mention that there was a lot of crowd support at IMMOO? :-)

  • Comments: I feel I did the best I could given my situation. It is quite fitting the finisher t-shirt had a bottle of spilled milk on the back. Can't cry over the race even though it didn't go the way I had hoped and trained for. Just learn from this. The first thought that was in my head when I woke up Monday AM was I am going to do this race again, and it is going to be diffrent next time! Next thought in my head, OMG my ass hurts! 2011 IMWI?? we will see.

  • Comments: I did CDA earlier this year, and I felt good all day long. Because of my screwed up left leg, I just did not get the run training in that I normally do for an IM. I was reduced to aqua running in my pool. While good, it is NOT the same as the hard stuff. This was the hardest of my 6 IM races, and ironically, I finished better in my AG at IMOOO than CDA. I continue to be close to garnering a Kona Slot, but 10' has kept me away at both CDA/IMOO. I have done Hawaii, so I am glad for the guys who are going who haven't been there. I think I will get back to Kona, but I need to be 99.9% healthy going into the race to have a chance. Leading up to IMW, my longest run was "one" 15 miler, then I got injured. On the Wednesday before the race, I could not even run a mile due to the pain in my hip. I almost pulled the plug on IMOO, but had already spent a crapload of $ and I am a cheap bastard, and stuborn, so I gave it a "go"... IM #6 in the books, and I am contemplating retirement....signed....Brett

  • Comments: I think back onto this experience and now greatly admire those who can finish an Ironman... I knew it wasn't going to be easy... no one ever said Ironman was easy... but wow, this has certainly changed me for the rest of my life. I really need to finish this race. I will use next year to get stronger and then I will come back and make my peace in 2011. Thank you everyone for soooo much support!!!! I know you will be behind me when I try again and I love you all for it! Thanks to everyone who has gotten me through it... I don't know what the future holds but I know I will finally have the day when they call me an Ironman!

  • Comments: I LOVE THIS RACE. The course is extremely challanging. Especially the bike course. The hills can demoralize you. But once you complete it you know you've done something incredible. The race was extrememly well run from the check in on Friday to the post race stuff on Monday. I felt like we had a great "community" of athletes and volunteers gathered together for an incredible weekend. Everything about this race was top notch. I highly recommend this race to anyone. Just practice hills. Considering that 5 years ago I was a smoker and about 60 pounds more than I weigh now and without an athletic bone in my body, I'm pretty damn proud of this accomplishment. If someone would have said back then that in 5 years I'd be an Ironman......no way I would have taken them seriously. Triathlon is now a way of life for me. It's opened the door to so many other things. Now that I know I can complete an Ironman, I want to do the Ironman BETTER. I'm hooked. I love the discipline it takes

  • Comments: Nothing beats Ironman Wisconsin. Nothing. It's top-notch! People I wished I could have seen: 1). Lisac. Thank you for coming all the way from "out west" and volunteering! 2). 2Goggs. I'm in the doghouse with this one. ;) People that I met along the way, in no particular order: 1). Jmeserole (casserole ;) ), working in one of the transitions, T2(?) 2). Rcav8tr - driving the SAG wagon with the Donkey Nation emblem on the back of the vehicle. I yelled out to him between Mount Horeb and Cross Plains. 3). Rcav8r - the Donkey-emblemed SAG wagon truck. 4). Jmwebs - Rush fanatic and aid station volunteer 5). Skavoovie and mchally - library mall aid station volunteer 6). Disturbed(digits) (Neal) - T1 7). KimK - bike marshall, Whalen Road 8). JoeRunner and Cweninger - ALL over, and beer drinking jock-strappers! 9). Gofishtlp - All over jockstrapper and volunteer 10). Wavedog - bacon boy, body marker, and ALL over jock-strapper 11). Donnawiz(bang) - wetsuit stripper 12). MissKelly

  • Comments: The race itself is very good with a lot of volunteer and spectator support. The course is challenging and scenic and Madison is a very cool town. There are a lot of people participating, so expect to wait in long lines for everything.

  • Comments: I know many people think these IM branded races are "rip offs"... but I have to say... I paid $550, and it was worth every single penny. The whole thing was a first class event. Well organized. Well run. Just. Plain. Awesome. I'll do it again. Just need to get these knees figured out.

  • Comments: I love Ironman. It is a great Race. I struggled thru this one more than the last. Just like everyone else. I realized in optimal conditions we would have beaten my time from 2007. BUT everyone suffered from the #1 Pro down to the DNF's I one time thought quitting would help, but my goal, #1 Goal, was to get Jeanne to the Finish Line!! and we did. It was a great day, a great moment, a great bonding effort for us. I will not be back next year, probably not even 2011. But I will be back. I love this. I even told people I M sick in the head cause I love this punishment. It is Fun - even on a bad day. About mile 20 on the run I did not want to do this distance ever again. But if given the chance I would do it every other year for sure. No time goals, just finishing. I will never win, I will never podium, but I will finish, and again I AM AN IRONMAN!!!

  • Comments: Had a blast with all the Donks out there. Raised over $2,500 for Racers Against Childhood Cancer. Finished about where I expected, but it sure didn't go down the way I thought it would. Legs felt awesome on the bike after a decent swim, but I knew the run would be trouble due to the tummy issues. In hindsight I could have changed things on the second half of the bike to make the run go better. An expensive lesson I hope to not repeat. No desire to sign up for next year whatsoever! Looking forward to doing some shorter tris and a lot more biking of all sorts next year!

  • Comments: I am taking the next year off from IM and going to do only oly and him's next year. I would like to take a family vacation next summer and contiue to coach my girls softball team. IM and Softball are not a good combo. I did it this year twice but it was a grind. My kid has talent and her pitching has a higher notch on the list than IM.

  • Comments: I’m a 45 year old woman with Rheumatoid Arthritis. I am a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, a cousin and a friend. Now, I’m also an Ironman. Wow. I had so much fun doing this amazing event with Jeff – can’t imagine doing it any other way. Coach Kevorkian came through, in a big way. Thanks, Honey!!

  • Comments: This was one of the best days of my life and I have so many people to thank. First of all...being part of BT and the donkai group has brought me so much happiness to my life. They are the best people in the world. I could call anyone of them and they knew exactly what to say when I was down or didn't want to train. If I could mention them all I would. The inspires and support are incredible. A huge thank you to Bob Stocks for the VIP tickets all weekend. You are the best. Kristin (lazymarathoner) for hanging out with me so much during the days leading up to the race. Whizzzzzz for walking with me the last 13 miles. Keeping me company and my spirits high. And finally...Craig. Even though he could not train with me for the season leading up to Ironman because of an injury, he was the best support and inspiration anyone could ever have. I owe so much to him for making this journey everything I dreamed it would be. He was my photographer, my coach, my friend, my shoulder

  • Comments: Well, here I am. I have done what I would never expect I could do. I ran my first 3 miles, did my first 15-mile bike ride and swam my first 0.5 km about 11 months ago....now, i can do 8 times more on the same day. I pushed my boundaries on almost every training session and was always surprised how much more I can do. I did my first HIM in April, my 2nd HIM in July (I improved my PR by 51 minutes) and my first marathon ion June (below 4 hours). But that all fades before this race. It is amazing what a human body can do when you can manage your mind. 2009 has become my greatest year ever. I have lost 40 pounds, finished an IM, and added a 4th kid to my family (right next to my 1 yr, 4yr and 5yr olds). I am on cloud 9.

  • Comments: Although not the run i wanted, it was the run i needed. I really felt i was faced with several challenges i had to deal with on the fly. Keeping cool, the sponges worked great...I felt hot, but never overheated. The salt issue i had several options, ditched some that i knew would work early. When i lost the salt stick, had a backup with ecaps in special needs. The glucose issue tried several different things (gu, oranges, grapes, sipping infinit, then back to oranges) till i found one that worked. But more importantly with 4 miles to go, i did not want to run anymore. I was done...I hit my wall..but i still ran...Not fast, not pretty, but i ran..On this day, with that heat, with my training, that was the best time in me....without a doubt. I finished in 07 knowing there was another IM somwhere in my future. I dont feel that anymore. mile split hr 1 08:30 146 2 09:51 144 3 10:11 144 4 10:34

  • Comments: I still love this race and this venue. My brother took me back to the hotel and I got cleaned up and tried to pull myself out of the funk. Went to get Kelly from the end of her volunteer duty on the run and watched people for an hour or so. It felt so good to see so many BT'ers working ion the run and hurt so bad to know I wasn't with them. Went to eat at Friedas around 5:00 because I had literally nothing in my stomache from the whole day. Watched runners go by while we ate. When done we went to cheer on others. Hurt to clap from all the IV holes in my hands (3). Saw some of the bravest performances I have ever seen. Talked to and walked with several BT'ers as they went by. Worked our way towards the finish and then it just got to hard to stick around. Hearing Mike Reilly's voice put me over the edge and I needed to go back to the hotel. I promised I would not do this race again in 2010. Of course this promise came with me never fathoming a DNF. It was so hard not to sign

  • Comments: I knew I would have a problem finishing this event when the weather forcast called for temps in the 80's with a heat index of 90 something. Tried to conserve by biking slow but it didn't help. The day started off bad when I couldn't find my HR monitor. and for those who wished for warmer weather when the forcast was for 65* and light rain. May your winter be filled with 8 ft. snow drifts and sub zero temperatures from October through May! Just kidding!
