  • Comments: HFP always does an outstanding job organizing a race. You really get a lot for your money (and the races are relatively inexpensive.) Race day safety is paramount for them & they cut the race running course for the 70.3 distance for those racers due to the heat. (OLY distance was unchanged.) Bike course was very safe with police at every intersection ... probably 20-30 officers out. This year's weather was a suffer-fest during the run, but that's the risk you take when signing up for a July Triathlon.

  • Comments: This ended up being an awesome race for me. I made the podium in 2nd for my age group for the first time ever. I was exactly 2 minutes slower than first place and he really beat me with his bike otherwise we were fairly even. Even with a bad swim, I was almost 2mph faster on the bike than I had hoped for. On the run I would have been happy with anything less than 9:00 but sub 8:30 I thought would be a little bit of a stretch for me. Coming away from this race I really want to improve my swim and get those times down. I know I can swim faster, I just need to learn to execute my plan better when it comes time to race.

  • Comments: Only comment would be that the "geography" around the transition area was a bit compressed. Mount/Dismount lines were pretty close and the chute leading into bike dismount was fairly narrow compared to other races and led to some bottlenecks. Overall, a good race and great logistical support from HFP.

  • Comments: Had a blast. Enjoy all the HFP events. I'd like to see them make this race a little longer. Follow the HIM bike course extention for a 28 mile ride and make the run 6.55 miles (1 lap of the HIM course). That way it would work out to an even half of a HIM. As it is with the 1000m swim, it's not an OLY, but it could be a 1/4 IM... Great volunteers. I was so happy to have someone actually check my number and my bike sticker. That almost never happens.

  • Comments: I liked the run course as it was scenic and did contain some shade (the weather was a little unseasonably cool so it wasnt needed but most August it would be welcome). The ride was challenging but fun on mostly good roads. The swim transition run is a little long and up a hill but as long as everyone has to do it fine by me.

  • Comments: Everything with the race went good. The food after the race could of been much better for me paying $97 to race. They would not let me have a sloppy joe sandwich since I did not do the 1/2. That must be some expensive hamburger they bought if $97 does not cover one sandwich.

  • Comments: HFP did a great job, as always. Unfortunately, a combination of the heat and bonking spoiled a good race for me.

  • Comments: Wow! What a great race! I can't believe I almost doubled my bike speed! I wonder how I will do once I swim the right course. That mistake added an easy 25 minutes to my finishing time. Pictures are here: http://swimming-rose.blogspot.com/2008/08/some-photos-from-race.htm...

  • Comments: I still like HFP. There were a few people wandering around asking if there were any post-race activities, but that's about it for these wheelie-fun series races -- they're kinda stripped down. The price is right, though. No race photography? I didn't see anyone on the course, and can't find a link . . . I still need to decided what, if any, race I'm going to do in October. Is this it for my season?

  • Comments: HFP events are always well run and organized in my opinion. I enjoy them and will keep coming back. Also you can't beat the price.

  • Comments: I love HFP races and they do a great job. I feel good about this race and felt that my training is working. Still gotta work on my speed but this will come. And I won my AG/Athena group. I did better this race then the shorter race I did last month.

  • Comments: Little disappointed with HFP this time. I'm questioning some of their distances. Each wave started late. And, the food after was terrible. No two ways about it. It was pretty sad. Race price increase, food quality goes down? I also thought they might have had one more aid station on the run. This felt like a very thrown together race-don't usually get that from HFP. Hopefully just a one time thing, because I really like this course.

  • Comments: An excellent HFP event -- inexpensive, efficient, and well-run. I would suggest that HFP put the porta-potties out of the direct line of the race, perhaps on the side of the parking lot rather in the center. But the race got brownie points because there were way more volunteers than there were at this same race last year -- kudos to HFP for digging up some more race supporters.

  • Comments: I thought this was a really well done race. It was another HFP race, adn they always do a good job. Lots of volunteers and drink stations were well placed for the run. I liked the food that they had afterwards. Pasta, pb&j sandwichs, fruit, cookies, chips, water, pop....I will do this next year!
