"I'm brand new to triathlons and I'm really struggling with my swimming!  I can't breathe right and I'm terrified that I'm going to suck in a lungful of water and drown myself.  Because of this I'm not making any gains in endurance in the pool.  I'm starting swim lessons and will do some of the drills on this website so that will help a bit.  My question is:  Until I feel comfortable in the pool, would it be silly to put in my pool time while wearing a snorkel?  I really want to swim until I'm tired and force myself to go further each time.  I'm not comfortable with this yet because I feel like I'm going to drown."
