"All of these helmets suffer from the same structural defect around the earpiece and it is only a matter of time before they crack. You can only be careful for so long and eventually you will accidentally put just a little too much pressure on the plastic when pulling it over your ears. Contact Giro and demand replacement with a better design. Bell owns Giro. The Bell Meteor II, which is not marketed in the US, has none of these problems. Bell has no incentive to take market share from its flawed line of Giro Advantage II helmets being sold in the US."linkysys
Ease of use
ditto. you will waste energy in transitions trying to baby this thing over your ears. if you are focused on racing, you should expect to be patching cracks with packing tape before the midpoint of your season.
Quality of Construction
cracks are unacceptable in a top end product.
Fit
so so
Comfort
fits tight, but that's as it should be for a wind cheating helmet.
Adjustability
good, though i'd prefer to see a tt helmet with internal strap anchors for better aerodynamics. the strap anchors stick out near the vents. this is, after all, supposed to be optimized for aerodynamics.
Durability
terrible
Value
when i say i would buy again below, i'm referring to their non-tt helmets, which are all pretty good.
Appearance
Looks good until it cracks.
Customer Service
first, it isn't considered a safety defect as the crack is on the earpiece. this is a debatable point, but the manufacturer will refuse replacement. some reputable shops will swap you for a replacement helmet, but as they all have this common defect, it will eventually crack again.
Performance
the shape is pretty aero. they did their homework. the tail could sit a little closer to the back and you will see many tdf riders with a modified design. the frontal cross section of this helmet is more bulbous that the CEN Bell Meteor II, but no more so than other CPSC helmets such as the Louis Garneau Air.
Strengths
Looks good until it cracks. Helmets shouldn't crack from ordinary use. The only time I expect my helmet shell might crack is when I crash!
Weakness
These helmets crack near the earpiece. All of the Giro Advantage II helmets at my local tri store had cracks around the earpiece the last time I test fitted. They had three helmets in various sizes, all with cracks around the earpieces. I personally know three riders with this helmet and all have the same defect. These are riders who time trial less than ten times per season. their helmets don't see a lot of use and they are still cracking. Check your local store and take a look at their display models. If the public has been allowed to try them on, you will see cracks in the shell.
One of the problems is that all high end helmets are designed for racing in Europe. The US has a different safety standard than the rest of the world. Companies rarely design helmets from the bottom up to meet the US CPSC standard. The result is that products sold in the US routinely have to be redesigned to meet our domestic safety standard.

Ease of installation
if you have ears, be careful or you'll crack the flimsy side pieces. where a skull cap and it will slide right on.
