  • Comments: Other people I am sure will complain about some things from this race but not me. If you are prepared and know the course then it is a fantastic first race of the year! I am glad it exists! I love to start my season early. The race director is great also. I took about 12 minutes off my time from last year which was my first tri ever. I can not be unhappy with that. The field was surprisingly small this year. I will do this race every May! 3rd female and 5th overall!!

  • Comments: This is a great pre-season warmup race to get the dust off the bike and legs or a good race for beginners to get a taste of triathlons.

  • Comments: There wasn't much organization early on. As I understand it, this race started as a HIM, and the sprint was added on later. It clearly felt that way, and since the sprint starts one hour prior to the HIM, we were waiting a bit for things to get organized. There also weren't many mile markers on the run course, as someone else noted, that affected their run effort. For post-race food, the web site states a "home cooked meal" would be served. They must have been referring to the Half-distance race, since all we had was muffins and croissants, which were good, but there could have been more. Also, while leaving, there was vehicle traffic mixing with HIM bike traffic. This was not good, though I'm not sure what can be done about it. We also saw a couple bikers go off-course. Not sure how that happened as there were police at the intersection where they went wrong.

  • Comments: All in all it was a great race for me. This was my second triathlon and even though the swim was about 250m shorter than my 1st I still beat my time by about 30 mins finishing at 1:18:31. I also achieved my goals of competing the whole time, not coming in last (even though I was 17/20 in my AG), look good out there racing, and be the 1st black guy to cross the finish line (I think I was I saw either 2 or 3 others at the race start and I know I passed one guy on the bike and one on the run maybe I was 2nd lol) I would like to thank My fellow Brooklyn Tri Club members and the members of the SWBKRUN mentor group on BT for helping me complete this race with all the advice and information.

  • Comments: Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and I'll be back next year all going well. As a post script, I reached out to TriSports.com and DeSoto and Chuck Cates of DeSoto was great. He apologized for the situation, synched up with Debbie of TriSports and reassured me today that a replacement T1 Speedtube would be on it's way to me. DeSoto and TriSports will definitely be getting more business from me.

  • Comments: Great race! They made some improvements from last year which included moving the transition area and some of the rough roads were paved. Personally, I hit 2 of the three goals I set for myself. Sub 17 on the swim and 22+ on the bike. Overall, almost 10 minutes faster than last years time. Good start to the Tri season!

  • Comments: -all of us had great races to open the season, esp considering the heat vs the weather over the past month. It has been much cooler. -volunteers were great asking if you preferred water or gatorade as you approached and then making sure they had it ready for you. - T1 moved to parking lot from the sand. Great improvement from last year. - run course was very well marked. cops did a great job with traffic

  • Comments: Good location for early season race with shallow water that warms up quickly. New transition spot in sand is tough and makes for long run to and from bike mount. Friendly racers and race staff...makes for good early season race.

  • Comments: Overall, this was a great race and I would definitely recommend it. It's a nice course and was well run. One recommendation is to move the transition area out of the sand to avoid the mess and also to avoid the long runs with the bike through the sand. I was also very satisfied with my times and am looking forward to training hard over the next 6 weeks to get prepared for Eagleman.

  • Comments: Overall, the race was alot of fun, and I liked the longer bike, because that is definitely one of my weakest spots, so I really wanted to test myself and see what I could do. I think I pushed a little too hard on it, and it affected my run, but overall I am pretty pleased with my performance. As a side note, I would like to thank all the police officers on the bike course becasue they did a great job, and they always seemed happy to help. Also, I know that there was one pretty bad accident on the first bridge that we crossed, and they handled it great.

  • Comments: This is a great local race that is organized by some great poeple. The post race food was good. The race only started a few minutes late which is pretty good for small sprints. The swim course was nice...the bike course was great. The venue was a great place to take your family (if the weather were better). I absolutely recommend this race. The finish times do seem quite a bit slower than last year though. Not sure if this is because of course changes or because the field wasn't as deep. The police on the bike course were fantastic. Never a question which way to go. Always held traffic (even though there wasn't much) Two complaints 1) They need to change the location of the transition area so it isn't in the sand. What a mess. I had sand on everything. And the 150 yard run with the bike through the sand both ways was terrible. 2) The volunteers on the run course needed to be more vocal. It was a zig-zag course with people running every direction. There were signs

  • Comments: Ok...the course was a good one. But outside of that...this race was horrible! 1) It was $100 to start off with. 2) It started 30 min late. 3) The water stops were manned by girls that didn't feel they had to leave their seats. That's fine, but the water stops were at a point of a turn where you are running on the extreme opposite side of the road as where they placed the water stop (going into a round about). They put the stop where you have to cross the road and then continue on. Horrible!! 4) This was in conjuction with a Duathlon and on a turn 30 yds from the finish in deep sand you had to go right for Tri and left for Du to different finishing chutes. Why not put that sign (the size of a postage stamp) a bit further up course so you're not deciding in a sprint in deep sand? Just a thought... 5) The preliminary results didn't come out for 2.5 hrs after the race was done! They posted one sheet of Du results and it was wrong so then they took that down. So I waited for

  • Comments: I liked this race a lot; good location, nice people and early in the season. Also a good shirt, "dri-fit" but soft and with a nice picture. The only drawbacks were it was pricey, and no T2 split.I will probably do this race again next year (unless I do St. A's), and I may do their October race since it's the latest race in the season within reasonable driving distance.

  • Comments: Nice location. Weird triathlon distances(a strong cyclists dream). Race director & staff were great. I thought the results were lame! Three days to get overall results(with no T2 times?) is pathetic. I would suggest another timing company. Not sure this is a good $90.00 entry fee value.
