  • Comments: Excellent volunteers. People on course, including police officers, were very supportive and encouraging. Little snafu with the swim buoys at start but not that big of a deal.

  • Comments: I had an AWESOME time! I was a little worried that I'd have to wait in line to get my race packet and then rush to get ready. But they were very organized and I had plenty of time to set up my transition area and warm up before the race. The park was beautiful, the water was clean and the run was great. I loved this course and will do it again next year. It was super cool that Matt set up a tent for the BT'ers. It was really nice having somewhere to go and knowing people at the race. And it was great to meet all of the people I've seen on this site for the past 6 months! Everyone was really nice and very supportive. I am totally hooked and I can't wait for the next one!

  • Comments: Buoys detached from their anchors prior to the race start. So start was delayed in order to re-anchor the buoys. No big deal, but I was excited to start!

  • Comments: Couple things about this race. This is my first time running it, I usually do Seahorse. Anyway, there were lots of beginners, which is great, but I think that they could have done a better job of explaining transitions and keeping to the right on the bike. It was really frustrating to see people riding on the yellow line, not passing anybody, just hanging out there. All in all, good race, good support and great for a beginner. Much closer to home than KZoo...

  • Comments: Great first timer course. Very clean orderly set up. Nice place. I'll be back next year for my MI opener. One last thing that I forgot to add. I never watched the clock. I started a basic HRM beforehand, and watched my speed on the garmin, but I never looked at my splits, or my pace when running. In fact, I hardly even looked at the hrm except for when I felt I was pushing on the bike, and at the beginning of the run. That's it. I think it did wonders for my mental state. When I crossed the line, after a minute or two, I showed trix the HR. 199 :)

  • Comments: First tri ever. 13 first-timers in the age group. Even with the accident finished as the 3rd fastest beginner. Also seemed to be the only (or one of the very few) first timers to do the group start. Most beginners did the individual start. Even with the accident, it was a great learning experience. Event was *very* well organized.
