  • Comments: Overall I think considering the situation the race director hndled everything reasonablly well. A lot of people were complaining but I think there was not much they could do, the weather was crap and people would have been at risk in that water. People's frustrations were getting the best of them and it seemed like they were taking it out on the race folks, but it's not like they could change the weather and it sounds like they have a game plan for next year as far as the swim goes (moving location to a protected waterway). I heard they are going to offer a discount for people to return who did this years race. I for one would be willing to give it another go. I enjoyed the city, the support and the course overall and really at the end of the day isn't that what racing should be about? It is for me...

  • Comments: I have a lot of mixed emotions about this race. I don't know what to call it for one. In my mind, even after this weekend, I still only have one 70.3 under my belt. I had been looking forward to this race all winter, and worked so hard on my swimming to get ready for. I think this race has potential, but I don't think I will race it again, swim being canceled 2 years in a row is just bad mojo. Gives me a chance to try another early season half iron race next year. I am now super pumped up for Muncie 70.3 on July 7th.

  • Comments: First massage after a race of this length. Had active release on several areas. Thought I would scream at how much pain the masseuse was causing. But the next day I had 0 pain and actually could have done recovery run. Will do again in the future.

  • Comments: I was very disappointed that the swim was cancelled. I trained very hard in the pool 3 mornings a week. I am a good swimmer so this did not work out in my favor. I had the fitness to break 5 hours so I am still bummed out about it. This race is a pain in the rear end. I hate starting and finishing in a different location, especially for your family that are there to support you. Packet pickup and bike drop off is a pain, but it is what it is. Volunteers were amazing!!! They were very helpful and extremely friendly. The Aid stations on the run were great, the volunteers were friendly and prepared as we went through their stations. I made sure to thank them as often as I could. With all that being said I will still do this race again next year, basically its in my backyard so that makes it hard to pass up.

  • Comments: I would love to do the race if I lived closer, but had to travel 1800 miles to race here. The finish is great in the French quarter, but parking and the long walk back to get cars is terrible!

  • Comments: Loved the race and love the city! Volunteers were great and there was plenty of fluid on course and great aid stations at every mile on the run. I would love to do this race again and the finish area is awesome! Finishing in Jackson Square is hard to beat, just wish I felt good enough to really enjoy it. I would love to do this race again to get my revenge on run course and try to crack 5 hours, but it will probably have to wait a couple years due to logistics and having other HIM races closer to home for next year.

  • Comments: Like I mentioned in the run section, the volunteers were awesome! I do not have one single complaint about any of the volunteers. I don't think there's any way to even praise them enough. Every single one was nice, polite, encouraging, doing everything they could to help the athletes out in any way they could. Absolutely fantastic. Aid stations were well stocked and plentiful - ice, power bars, water, G, sponges, pretzels. I may be wrong, but I think one might have had beer... but this was after the bonk so I might have just imagined that. The people of New Orleans were an absolutely fantastic host. I only have 2 complaints on the entire race and that is 1) post race food. I know some people will think I'm crazy, but all I really wanted were bland foods, apples, cookies, sandwiches. I could not eat most of what they had because it was just too spicy at that point for me to tolerate. 2) The awards ceremony was pretty disorganized and took forever, which I know is kind of a

  • Comments: Overall, this is a well-organized and fantastic race. The course was difficult, but fair. The volunteers were awesome and all aid stations were stocked as far as I could see. My only gripe was the condition of the roads. I know the director did all he could with what he had to work with, but I never want to ride roads like that again, unless I'm on a mountain bike! I would probably not do this one again just for the logistics of it. It was a long drive for me (flight for Bethany) and there are so many other drivable races to try in the future. Still, I've got nothing to say but positives about this one.

  • Comments: After went to post race events to see awards. I wanted to see Andy Potts and Terenzo in person. I see so much of them in my Triathlete Magazine that I feel like they are celeberties. So im standing there waiting for the awards and tjere is this tall character about 6'2"-3" is standing in front of me almost in my way. He all of a sudden puts on a jacket that is covered with logos. I looked at my brother and said.....DUDE!!!! Thats Andy Potts!!!!! I didnt think he was that tall. My brother was like....."who is that?" (My brother isnt into triathlons by the way). I was like he just won the whole race today by like 5 minutes!!! I said I have to talk to him! I was super star struck and I walked up and said "Hey Andy good race today how you do? First?"...Wow what a classy guy. He turned around and was engaging in conversation with me. He asked how I did. I jokely said...."oh I came in second". His jaw dropped and said "REALLY?!" Aparently he didnt get I was joking and looked at me like he should

  • Comments: The organisation of the race was great and apart from the run I enjoyed it but I do have a few improvement suggestions - hopefully this race will grow better and better each year. (1) They give you the option of using bike world which is very convenient hand over and back of bike at transition. But you have to find your own way to transition and back to check in (ok getting taxi there but in middle of nowhere so taxi back was more difficult and I waited ages before pouncing on some people and asking if they had space for me) and post race shuttle takes you to transition and then you are on your own. I asked race director at the pre race meeting and he helpfully (not!) said he was very careful not to say the bus would bring us back to town after race and he had no idea where buses were going. I spoke to my bus driver and they said they were just going in loops and I thumbed one down after drop off and the nice man stopped which was just as well because I'd been waiting a while in hope

  • Comments: Awesome-must do race! The people of New Orleans were incredible on the run course, extremely hospitable and encouraging (ie water hoses, sprinklers, music, signs, cheering, water ballons, cow bell...we need more cowbell). Race volunteers were numerous, competent, helpful, willing and eager. Thanks to Jan, John Thomas, Samuel, Annulyn and Ram for all of your patience and support, thanks to Brad, Josette, Monte and Scott for waiting and WAITING for me at the finish line AND a huge shout out to Travis for turning me on to TI, going slow with me on the long bike rides as well as the good conversation!
