  • Comments: My first race. My gear needs to be better, and so do my knees. I didn't get to swim and froze my butt off. I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

  • Comments: There was a DJ playing in the transition area. Course I never heard them! I was concentrating so hard to move my extremties. There was a BBQ after but I left. I needed to get warm! It was a good race - just wish Mother Nature cooperated a little more. But then I guess when does she ever?

  • Comments: The swim really got me in this one. I was ready to pack it in coming out of the water. Never really had that feeling in any of my other triathlons. Oh well - nice to have one under my belt this spring and I can't imagine that the swim will be as tough in other events I do this summer.

  • Comments: Overall, I enjoyed the race. My goals coming into the race were to finish strong and not be last in my AG. I accomplished both of those goals. Also, as I said above, the Max team put on a good event. My only criticism is that they didn't cancel the swim for everyone. I am scheduled for two more of their events this year and I am looking forward to them.

  • Comments: I think the Max Performance guys did a good job of making the best of a bad situation caused by weather. Certainly nothing they could do about the wind, and canceling the swim was the right call. I just think they could have taken 15 minutes to slow things down, and figure out the best approach to continuing the race instead of just having everyone start running from the beach. (which they evidently weren't prepared for because they weren't able to give us a separate T1 and bike split.) Maybe they should have offered a second wave of duathlon? I certainly would have felt a lot better about the day if they had. Anyway, I still think they did a GREAT job overall with the race and managed to keep us all happy and safe during a really crappy weather race. So happy with them in fact, that I signed up for their next race as soon as I got home.

  • Comments: I was disappointed with my results, but overall, I enjoyed this race! Going to my 10 year high school reunion the day before didn't help. I didn't drink at all, but I ate foods I definitely wouldn't normally eat the day before a race. I think this was an important factor in my weak performance. I liked the tough swim course and there was some very fast people that did the race. I'm also glad I got a race under my belt before Mooseman.

  • Comments: Given cold, the race should have started on time - not cool keeping people on the beach shivering. I was denied BBQ after the race because I had already torn off the bottom of my race number, which I always do so that it doesn't flap. I had markings all over me, but the dick at the serving area wouldn't give me a friggin' cheeseburger. Left, pissed off, now realize I came in second in my age group and could have been at the podium! Go figure.
