  • Comments: REV3 puts on a great event. This is my 3rd time doing this race and I will be back again. The only issue I saw this year was the traffic on the bike course. In the past they have closed the out and back road. This year they did not and it was an issue. there was an 18 wheeler gas truck bombing thru as bikes are on either side of the narrow road. Would advise in closing that road for future events.

  • Comments: Overall, the execution of the race by Rev3 was good, as usual. However, I can see things slipping - no pros, fewer exhibitors, less swag (no finisher jersey!), etc. Wondering if things are going downhill. Given the difficulty of the race and the need for early season training, not sure if I will take on the HIM next year - maybe dial back to the Oly. This was painful. Thank you to themany enthusiastic volunteers who (as usual) came through every time!!

  • Comments: This is a tough course. The bike and run courses are technical and hilly, but not out of my ability. It just wasn't my day. I've beat myself up over the race and racked my brain over what happened or what I could have done differently...so I could learn from it, move on and not do it again. I've allowed myself way more time than I should have to beat myself up over my performance on Sunday. Part of this race report is for me to get it all out and now it's time to move on. I can't be upset with myself over this any longer. And I while I didn't have the day I intended, I need to at least recognize the victories of the day (finishing, no migraine, good nutrition). Pick my head up, recover and get my ass back to training. I saw a quote yesterday that was perfect - "Don't forget that you're human. It's okay to have a melt down. Just don't unpack and live there. Cry it out and then refocus on where you're headed."

  • Comments: This was a good race but I felt like Rev3 was tightening their belts financially. We got very little in terms of bling (the only thing we got in our athlete packet was a head rag. Post race food wasn't fresh by the time I get there and there was no beer (seriously - they had it at MD - but only served soft drinks here). Aid stations were good and volunteers were really friendly. The course was just what I wanted - something that would really challenge me and boost my confidence. It was beautiful - and the weather was PERFECT!

  • Comments: Hard to find a race to beat the scenery, organization, volunteers, energy and traffic control of this race. Really a great race (but tough).

  • Comments: the Rev 3 did another stellar job at being there for athlete's. I must say I was surprised by the number of bike mechanicals I saw out on the course-LOTS of flats, more than the last 2 years I did this. I counted the DNF list from the website and there were almost 100 people with DNF. A few DNS and a rare DQ. I love the challenge of this race and the hills of the bike and run are what make it great. I was happy with how I pressed until I had very little left. Spiked my heart rate sprinting past the guy in my AG who I went back and forth for hours-both on the bike and the run. Lots to improve on-still...no surprise there. No pros this year, so I think the field was a bit smaller too.

  • Comments: This was my first attempt at the Quassy Half. There's no getting around it - this race is brutal. Hills. Hills. And more Hills. The bike is a stunningly beautiful course through farm land and fancy homes. Lots of hills there too - with some frighteningly fast descents - but all manageable. The real pain starts on the run. The first 3 miles lull you into thinking it won't be that bad. Then the dirt road hill hits at about mile 4 - and all hell breaks loose at that point. On the upside, there are tons of aid stations on the course - and each was stocked with super-enthusiastic volunteers that really helped mask the pain for a moment. All told - rev3 puts on an amazing event at Quassy. Results are available instantly - there's a huge family-friendly finish - and the volunteers and staff are top notch. The only down-side I would say is the post-race food is carnival food (burgers, dogs, and pasta salad) - so if you're looking for something more healthy - bring your own.
