  • Comments: As this was my first race, I really have nothing to compare it to. I enjoyed it and will continue to work at getting better. I have lots of room for improvement. I will be back next year to see how much I improved over the year. (and after training for a 14 months vs 2 months).

  • Comments: The vibe was okay. Not a huge field and I felt like there was a more experienced set of racers here than I had seen at other tris (or maybe I'm just looking for an excuse for my low age group rankings) Atmosphere was strangely flat after. But course is good - nice swim and interesting bike.

  • Comments: I really like this race for the swim and bike course and the plentiful parking on site is under-the-radar important. Well organized. Also very conducive to post-race tailgate. Shaved almost 5mins off 2009 time although say 1:30 attributable to shorter swim. I think participation was down for all age groupers except 40-55 males because it was father's day and us father's wanted to race!

  • Comments: I've only done two Tri's thus far - both by FIRM racing. This one was MUCH better than the Lions Sprint. Great tech shirts for swag. Food was great. Transitions zone was well organized, lots of volunteers and spectators. Overall a great experience. And again - that watermelon was the greatest thing I have ever eaten.

  • Comments: Overall, this was a well-run race (according to Jeff, who has done a lot of them.) I will definitely do it again next year. As for my performance, I am really happy with placing 8th in my AG given that it was my first race. I had set a goal of finishing in 1:30 or better, and I beat that by over 5 minutes! I thought at first that I had missed it because the clock said 1:31 when I finished, but I had forgotten about the wave start so I was thrilled when I saw my actual time. I was also REALLY happy with the bike. To finish 22nd out of 177 women overall is GREAT, and I couldn't be happier.

  • Comments: Pretty happy with the performance overall. I'm sort of surprised that I did better in my weaker areas than my stronger, but it's nice to know that I really had been working on them.

  • Comments: This being my first Tri, I don't have much to compare, but I definitely enjoyed this race. I also liked that they weren't playing obnoxious music before the race. I wish that the announcer giving instructions on the swim had been using a megaphone that worked, instead of emitting the muffled noises that nobody could understand.

  • Comments: Firm always puts on good races...this one in particular started quite late...very slow registration/sign up but it worked out just fine! Was a good 2nd race of the season and good to relive my firts race ever...and of course I improved on time from the first time around in 2006

  • Comments: currently cranky as my results on line have my swim at 24 minutes... which would be correct if I had started with the first wave. if they ever fix it, I'll update with my placement. not sure if it's just me, or everybody. oh, and the winner HAULED... finished around 56 minutes. yikes!

  • Comments: This was the longest triathlon I'd yet tackled (my fourth ever), so I set myself the goal of finishing in 2 hrs. I finished in 1:40 with a sprint at the end of my run, so I felt very very good about it. Since it's a longer race, I ranked much worse than usual -- I think I'm competing against better athletes -- but I'm still quite content with my performance for the day.

  • Comments: Firm racing did a bit better this year than last year. Bike zone was on the grassy field instead of the gravely parking lot. Lots of post race refreshments and goodies!!! Safety was good. I do wish they would mark the miles on the run.

  • Comments: Performance wise..this was not a great race for me- but it wasn't about that.Just HAPPY to be able to be there and to finish and to do so without feeling like it set me back.I realized as I was running that I hadn't stopped grinning since coming out of the water... was actually laughing out loud on the run..! Had fun hanging during the start delay with Ellen & Kathy & Glen...they kept me from freaking out about propelling myself 1/2 mile with basically zero swim practice since accident. Out on the course - Kathy was "riding with the boys"on her new bike and smiling each time I saw her, gliding across the finish line with ease, Ellen was looking strong on the bike, high fived on the run,and cruised in smiling.Kept expecting Glen to swim over me, fly by me on the bike, but passed him going out on the run-shirtless-instead...smiling.I had very little sleep, wasn't "ready" training wise to race,..It was rainy ....and I had a BLAST! Happy Happy Dance...!!!

  • Comments: FIRM does an 'ok' race. No signage as to directing the participants to the venue, no mile markers for bike or run leg, very little post race goodies. overall, it was fun to be able to race on a warm rainy day in june and I have to thank FIRM for the opportunity.

  • Comments: I did not like the long run up the asphalt to T1/T2. Why didn't the race orgs use the lower, beachside parking lot? Makes no sense to me. I have e-mailed the race org folks about my DNF and hope that they will update the Results Page soon...I feel bad about beating Miss 3rd place Athena because if I had been racing, she'd have been my rabbit. I noticed her on the beach and thought "I'd really like to keep up with her". She was tall and looked FAST! We'd have been neck-and-neck on the bike if I'd been able to stay in the game. http://www.firm-racing.com/result_report.asp?RID=524&type=4&cat=Ath...

  • Comments: FIRST TRIATHLON EVER! Great-guess not by ranking standards, but definitely a serious finish and proud of my first one! I was completely wiped after this one but also was completely motivated to take on more. I look very much forward to watching my performance improve! And I have to say I was pretty worried about the rain and the rain stopped me from doing Hyannis I two weeks earlier. But luckily the rain was not super heavy during the race. It was no issue during the swim of course. The bike was slick but not too dangerous-and the rain definitely kept me cool. Same for the run-I was never really hot as a result of the wet/cooler but warm enough weather. So while I did envision doing my first tri on an ultra sunny and perfect day. The rainy day worked out quite well for this first one.
