  • Comments: I know that I need to change how I train. I always key in on what my weaknesses are and those are important things to keep an eye on. In my case, I think they are becoming distractions. I do a lot of things well. I think I would do better to work on getting even better at those things instead of beating myself up on what I struggle with. I was encouraged on the bike and know I can improve my run. I am going to back off (mentally) on the swim for a while and try to put some polish on my strenghts.

  • Comments: I came in second in the Athena under 40 division. I probably will never place in this division again...not just because of weight (hopefully), but I was lucky that I came in second anyway. I know, gotta love myself. I raced, I completed and out of the 10 women in that division, I was the second fastest there. I guess I just look too much at the other times and think that I am undeserving. And yet if someone else was in my shoes, I would say they deserved it. I enjoyed this race because the crowd and volunteer support was awesome. Having the spectators and crowds line the streets for the bike and the run was awesome. It was so cool to round the corner going into transition on the bike at high speed and having people cheer you on...like my own mini Tour De France! And having people cheer you on as you run in and clapping and yelling for you.....everyone should experience that at least once. And I need to remember that my participation in triathlons is not about winning or losing because

  • Comments: My only complaint - with the exception that I did not place, is that the transition area was in a parking lot and it did not appear that they swept the lot. There was lots of gravel that was uncomfortable coming in from the swim. I tried to clean my feet before putting on my socks, but I still had the gravel on my feet. Was not an issue on the bike, but on several occasions on the run I had to slow way down (yes, slow for me means stop), and move my feet in my shoes to rearrange the gravel. Other than that, the race was very well organized, lots of volunteers and just a lot of fun!
