  • Comments: Felt WAY too good Monday morning when I got up. Will definitely try to push harder next time. I had fun during the race however, and I think it was the best organized triathlon I've done yet.

  • Comments: I like this race except for the swim and the rough roads. Its a great distance for the first race of the year and its nice seeing tons of BT people there. I did manage to beat my time from last year by about 7 minutes so I'm happy with my results.

  • Comments: Very fun for my first race. I signed up with my cousin and brother and it was the first race for all of us. We train together and my brother beat me by 42 secs. My cousin finished 46 secs after me. We're all signed up for Anchor Bay, so that should be a good rematch!

  • Comments: This was my first HAWK-I tri. Great start to my TRI season and was happy with my performance. Gave me some great insight on where to focus my next few weeks training for the bulk of the tri season. Also affirms for me that I need to practice transition area so I can improve instead of winging it on race day.

  • Comments: Good race, but keeps getting bigger and bigger each year. Not sure if they can accomodate any more people than the 800. Hoping they don't allow anymore and keep it where it is at. Trouble hearing the swim starter. You could not hear the wave or age groups being announced. Need to be much more louder. Again hoping they change up the swim somehow so people are not swimming over each other. Lots of great volunteers. Liked how they opened up the swim course to participants on the Thursday before the race so we could get in feel the course and try things out. Great idea.

  • Comments: This was a great race, awesome course (except a few potholes on the bike), lots of great volunteers. Couldn't hear the start of the swim waves very well, and needed more port-o-potties especially during the race. Minor complaints though as it was well-run.

  • Comments: The organization was excellent, especially considering that there were tornado warnings the night before. Post race BBQ turkey from the Turkeyman was the best race food ever.

  • Comments: Hawk Island is a great little (not so little anymore) race and it's well run...which is why I keep coming back. I always have a great time.

  • Comments: Took about 2 minutes off from last years OA time. The 2nd place person in my AG didn't have a run time and was given a 2nd place finish time of 59 minutes (though he swam 10+ min and had a 4 min T1 and a 38 min bike), the 3rd place person was the individual start. That's some bull crockery right there! UPDATE (6/14/2010): Good News!!! The chip company that did the timing for Hawk Island recognized a mistake in my AG. Turns out, the person who was in 2nd, did not have a 8 minute 5k. So I did in fact take 3rd place! They were even so kind as to update their Results page. http://results.active.com/pages/displayNonGru.jsp?orgID=216362&rsID...

  • Comments: I don't know what it was but I was not happy on the swim or the bike. Usually I enjoy those substantially more than the run but not today. Not sure why. Maybe weather (low 60's, overcast, threat of rain and rain overnight) or I really needed more sleep last night. At one point on the bike I did question myself about what I got myself into or why I opted to do this. I'm still not sure. No groin pain, well no more than after my normal training. This is a good thing! So, now I can call myself a triathlete....I'm ready for dinner!
