  • Comments: It must be tough to run these races. You can't please everyone. My only suggestion is they could have made a decision earlier on the shortened swim. I read something about a delay waiting for the EMT truck to arrive, so maybe that was it, in addition to the buoys being blown off course. In any event, no one seemed to know what was going on until we were informed the swim was being shortened about 45 minutes after the scheduled start.

  • Comments: Here it is, I completed my first tri race of the season (400 years (maybe 250 yards after adjustments), 15 mile bike ride, 3.2 mile run in 1:19: 43 and I had a blast! I also won my age group division, which WOW, I was suprised. I knew that I woudl be competitive, at least I was gonna try no matter what, but I for sure didn't think I was going to win ... overall though it was a great first race and I am looking forward to the next one .. Mooseman here I come

  • Comments: Good, pretty and challenging course. Well organized event. I know some folks were upset about the delay, but I think Max did the best they could. They made the attempt to keep the swim course the same and if they hadn't folks would probably complain that they jumped the gun on cutting the swim short - they decided based on their previous experience to take the chance to try to fix it and unfortunately, that didn't work out. C'est la vie. Once the delay was announced it would have been best to focus on staying warm rather than milling about on the beach the whole time, but that's what racers chose to do - me included. I wish I did better than I had all around, especially on the run, but now that all the first-timer anxiety is gone, I can not second-guess myself in my preparation, not be so scattered in transition, and train on my weak areas. I was really glad to have this one as my first - a beautiful day, really nice folks racing, organizing, volunteering and spectating along

  • Comments: Overall, the race was organized, but the handling of the delay at the start of the race really affected my overall performance. I heard later on that the race organizers knew there would be a delay but didn't announce it BEFORE I got in the water. Then, they kept giving out incomplete and inaccurate information about the delay while everybody waited around freezing. Obviously, they couldn't control the weather conditions, but there needed to be faster decision making and better communication.

  • Comments: Max Performance did another great race in spite of the wind and delays. I had a timing chip mis-read or dud, so I'm not 100% confidence in the S/B/R/T1/T2 split times, but they seem about right. Bay State racing systems staff quickly found my finish time in the back-up sheets. I commend them for doing this on the fly when my timing chip was found to be a dud. I just don't know how the splits were calculated by them unless the chip data was found and restored somehow. Anyway...the magic of computer timing and near-instant results still impresses me! Good race, all!

  • Comments: Max Performance is still a young company figuring the best ways to run the race. Now I know that yesterday was a logistical nightmare with the wind, but it was forecasted and they need to have a little better back up plans and ways of communicating them to the athletes. The worse part of the delay was not knowing what was going on and if the race was ever going to start. The mishap in the run course was quite annoying and could easily be fixed with a single volunteer. Other then that the race went very smoothly and all of my athletes (15 with 5 this being there first tri) had a great time and finished well.

  • Comments: The race started late due to wind issues with the swim buoys. THey couldnt help it,but I feel like they could have made the decision to shorten the swim much earlier. We were pretty cold by the time the start came.

  • Comments: I don't know if the organizers get a pass because of the wind...it started an hour late and even though this is my first triathlon I feel like that's unacceptable, it's pretty crappy waiting around after getting a good warmup in, a solid swim warmup then standing there for 45 minutes. Overall though I'm very, very happy with my race results...being a first-timer I think I handled everything very well, I paced myself reasonably well and my training's paid off. Much more training to come but I'm definitely going in the right direction!
