  • Comments: I loved this Tri, friendly athletes and volunteers, great staff and events ran on time. Easy course for a Tri newby - short pool swim, flat bike and run. I was in the novice division with 18 female novice racers. Swim rank: 6/18, bike rank 18/18 (shoot me now LOL!), run rank: 10/18 = overall rank: 17/18. Bike brought me down, but hey, my goal was to not come in dead last overall and I didn't!

  • Comments: Great local race, perfect for a first tri or to hit some PRs. First race my bike was not my weakest leg, which was the plan essentially, just didn't expect it to be like this, in a good way. Saw Justin after the race and he introduced me to some friends, they are putting a 2013 IM group together and asked me to join in...hmmmm.

  • Overall course based on my ability:

  • Comments: 9 minutes slower than last year, 7.5 of which came from the run. While disappointing, I finished about where I should have given my current fitness level, and am somewhat pleased about that. If all went perfectly, I figured I'd have done this in 1:20. 1:22 isn't too far off of that. Next Years goal = sub 1:10.

  • Comments: This was a very nice event (I don't have anything to really compare it to), and will probably repeat it next year, mainly to see how much and where I improve over my first attempt. Met some other very nice and equally nervous newbies, and even managed to exchange an email address with someone from my area. The one thing I didn't care for was the run over gravel road going from pool to t1. Officials obviously did as best they could with it, so I certainly don't fault the organizers.

  • Comments: I had set a goal to break 1 hour on this course. I knew it would be tough as it was 1:40 faster then my time at PowerSprint on same course on May 31st. I figured that I would go for it and either do it or blow up trying. I was pleased with the results.

  • Comments: Being my first tri and only the second I've been to, I can't really rate it too much. There were tons of volunteers and police helping out. Not much to do between when I finished and when awards started (about 8:45 to 10:30) but get a message and sit around. There were only 2 vendor tents but I'm not sure how normal that is. Offer something besides HEED to drink and Hammer Gels... yuk.

  • Comments: Fun race, as always. Low-key, lots of locals (many from RTC and this group called Endorphin Fitness), not an uber-competitive field, but still some talented folks. Including an 81 year old guy, and the 84 year old woman I saw at my first race ever, back at Luray in 2007! Freakin' crazy. Aside from my less-than-awesome run, I had a good race, it was fun. This is a good "tradition" race. Maybe next year, I'll actually ride my bike some more and do better!

  • Comments: Set up events always does a great race! If I had felt better physically this would have been a terrific race for me. It wasn't craptastic, but I wouldn't say it was awesome.

  • Comments: What a fun little race! Very well organized, lots of food and although they ran out of soda and non-water drinks, they had plenty of water afterward, and more importantly, on the RUN! And kinda glad I slacked a bit this week so I could run with fresh legs.

  • Comments: This was my second time doing this race, and it was our first tri ever a year ago. So it was great to see progress over the last year as I did every segment faster and beat last year's time by 8 minutes. Of the three Set-Up tris we have done, this is by far the best organized and the most fun. Will probably do it again next year.

  • Comments: Nice race for beginners, great course and very well organized. It was nice to do this race again this year and have a smoother race than my sprint in June which was really rough. This course and race was a nice confidence booster.

  • Comments: This is the 2nd Set-Up Events race I've done (out of 3) and I've been impressed both times. Everything from packet-pickup to awards goes very smoothly (although the manner of handing out door prizes was a bit ridiculous at today's race) - the important stuff is done right. Good volunteers and traffic control. Nice folks. A great race for newbies and nearly newbies.
