I've just got back in the pool from a 2 week break and my triceps are killing me the whole time I am swimming. Wondering if someone has any ideas or tips to correct?

"I've just got back in the pool from a 2 week break and my triceps are killing me the whole time I am swimming. I have increased the amount of weight training and pt that I've been doing lately which I am guessing is causing the problem. I've tried really stretching out before and after swimming and lifting but I'm still incredibly sore in the pool. I may just need to get back into a routine. Wondering if you have any ideas or tips to correct?"

Since triceps are used quite a bit in freestyle swimming, it is not uncommon to have a little bit of soreness in these muscles when getting back to swimming after some time away from the water. However, having pain the entire time you are swimming is not normal!

While I do believe in strength training for swimming improvement, it's not likely that your tricep pain issue is due to a lack of strength. [.....]
