Comparing Chi and Pose Running - Using Gravity

No matter what technique you use, running still remains a sport that requires “pain and suffering.” Technique-only training will not make you a fast runner if you don’t practice to be one.

A little while back a friend of mine asked for my opinion regarding “Pose Running” and “Chi Running”. I had heard about them, but never took the time to educate myself about these two new popular techniques. So I decided to visit their websites and read more about them. Here are a few personal observations.


Chi Running

Let’s start with “Chi Running” which “combines the inner concentration and smooth flowing movement of Tai Chi with the power and energy of running”.

 
According to the website, by practicing Tai Chi regularly you learn to collect “Chi”, your life force, and to direct it properly, in this case to running. I know from a brief experience in the Far East that Asian techniques can help one relax and concentrate more on what he/she is doing. [.....]
