O.K. Some rookie smack talk coming - will look lame to Marvarnet, Coredump and Birkierunner .

Actually, SOR team management is examining the smack-talking performance of Coredump as of late and is considering probation. Seems he may be resting too much on his Kona laurels.......oh, we're sorry, did we not mention we've got Kona vets on SOR? The waves and winds of Lake Michigan are mere ripples and zephyrs compared to the surf and lava field winds of Kona. While Steelheaders crumble under such conditions, Team SOR thrives...and gets stronger. Man, I wish the race was today (yes, I think I've had a little too much coffee this morning )

Benton Harbor Weather Today
Inland: Sunny with gusty winds. High 91F. Winds SSW at 25 to 35 mph. Winds could occasionally gust over 50 mph.

Coastal Waters:...GALE WARNING IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT......SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGHFRIDAY AFTERNOON.

THIS AFTERNOON...NORTH GALES TO 35 KNOTS. PARTLY SUNNY. WAVES 3 TO5 FEET BUILDING TO 6 TO 10 FEET. .TONIGHT...NORTH GALES TO 35 KNOTS BACKING SOUTHWEST OVERNIGHT...THEN DECREASING TO 30 KNOTS TOWARD DAYBREAK. PARTLY CLOUDY WITH ACHANCE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS...THEN SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMSLIKELY OVERNIGHT. WAVES 10 TO 14 FEET BUILDING TO OVER 20 FEET FROMLATE EVENING THROUGH ABOUT 5 AM...THEN SUBSIDING TO 8 TO 12 FEETTOWARD DAYBREAK.

Looks like training weather for Steelhead athletes, while SOR wannabees curl up with their iced lattes and munch on cheese curds in front of Dr. Phil. :P

.. Damaging thunderstorm winds possible across northern Illinois
and Northwest Indiana this evening...

A squall line or solid line of thunderstorms is expected to
develop over northern Illinois this evening. The greatest
severe weather threat from these storms is damaging wind gusts
around 80 to 90 mph. This storms will evolve from supercell
thunderstorms that develop this afternoon across Iowa and
northwest Illinois and then race to the east North-East.

--

I see your 50 mph gusts and raise you another 40 mph.

As you notice, even our 6 hr types are correcting their times to go sub 6 because they are just getting that fast  delusional.

Yeah, inexperienced Steelhead newbies tend to do that when they don't have a clue what they are about to face. The HIM is 5 hours of hope and 1+ hour of reality.

OK.  Now I'm, pi$$ed   - Correction, committed to 5:45...  thanks for the motivation.

Now, you see hangloose....what you mistook as me intentionally slighting newbies (heck,  I'm a newbie myself! ) was actually my secret way of motivating everyone on both sides (experienced racers,  newbies, jockstrappers, etc) to have a good race.  Since I have a very low tolerance for having to take time to preview my posts so that I don't harm overly-sensitive psyches (cough, Steelheaders, cough) I'll refrain from further smack talk and concentrate on developing the Excel spreadsheet where   I can rig the calculations so that SOR wins no matter what the actual outcome   everyone can see the results of this friendly (yawn) challenge.

(I'm assuming that nobody takes any of my posts even remotely seriously)

yeah I would challege anyone to have a slower time than me. I will come accross the line slow and tired but I am going accross the line since that line is my biggest challege. After that I hope to beat a few of the steelhead people.

That's just a given coming from an SOR peep!

Birkie, you simply left the door too wide open on that one.

hangloose - 2007-06-07 11:16 AM

Excuse me. I'd just like to make a little announcement. It seems as if the smack talking has been relegated to the elites among us who hope to turn in times in the sub 5 and sub 6 hour range. I'd like to speak up on behalf of those of us, on both sides of the contest, who have realistic chances of coming in at slower times. These races, and this challenge, is as much about us as it is about you guys/gals. It is about each of us pushing ourselves to our limits and beyond, WHATEVER THOSE LIMITS MAY BE.

I know none of you are intentionally slighting any of us personally. However, some of the comments are coming very close to doing that. I want everyone to have a great race and to enjoy being part of this contest. Now, this may seem contradictory to the concept of a contest between SOR and Steelhead. That is not the case. While I hope everyone has a great race, those of you doing Steelhead can't even compare to how smoking hot the SOR team is gonna look. Especially those of us with Donkey gear.

I'm too sexy for Steelhead, too sexy for Steelhead, so sexy you're dead.

Y'all smell funny too. Nyah.

For Hangloose's benefit, I'll leave the fact that Steelhead is CLEARLY faster alone for now, but focus on the fact that we are also going to have more FUN racing than you SOR folks. I think bonus point should be given out for all pictures captured with a SMILE on your face!

My goal is also sub 4:50.  But that is not for the finish, that is just to be off the bike by then.....heh.

I have a real good feeling about this SOR group.  I can't put my finger on it, but there is an energy about us that just tastes like victory.

Or maybe its this picture I found in Jazzy's album???  Maybe she signed up for the wrong race?  Not sure.

That is freaking HILARIOUS! Glad I'm not the victim this time...

Well there's another category where we'll win, because there's no way y'all will be able to smile much with all that whining you do.

After Rockman I think I can handle anything. Team Steelhead look out. Team SOR is on the move.

Oh...you got smart and got to the correct side of the lake?  So now you're doing Steelhead?  That is the only move Team SOR can make since you're already back of the bus.

Fred (Penn State) is in for Steelhead. I know I have said this before but "Game Over". I guess we hope you guys enjoy your day in defeat. 2nd Place is nothing to frown on.

So once again as time gets closer and closer Steelhead keep adding more and more wringers. They are scared. They are scared of me and I suck. I am defintely team sors handicap but hey that is because we need it. Otherwise it would not even be close. How do I know this? I almost did steelhead but was told I have to do SOR because otherwise it just would not be fair.

Next week team steelhead will announce there 2 new teammates Craig Alexander and Samantha McGlone.

plenty spots left on team sor since we take them all. Steelhead is out of spots unless your a sub 4:30. they only seem to want to let pros on there team since that is the only chance they got.

yeah we never figured out how to handle people who like to play for both teams.

I guess when you have a PR at SOR then team SOR will get all the credit and when your at steelhead will fall apart because well its steelhead then they get all the blame.

Why would we want to make our team weaker by adding them?  Perhaps you SOR types just don't know the caliber of Team Steelhead.   Silly rabbits!
