CDA race director to send out an email informing everyone that since Lake CDA is unusually cold, neoprene swim caps and aquasocks will be allowed.

Here's the story (hope posting the link doesn't violate BT posting rules), click on the video link on the right hand side:

I ordered a neoprene hat from DeSoto Sports and got it yesterday in the mail. It's pretty comfortable but I haven't swam in it yet.

I race Harriman on 5/17 swim was 54 degs.. wore neoprene cap and aqua socks did'nt have any problems. If the water is below 60 I would definatley get the socks.

I bought mine at Promotion wetsuits..and have used them in many races sub 60 and they work great. There is a link and discount through BT.

I know they say they're for walking on rocky surfaces, but they're neoprene 1.5 mm

Cool, I always race in my Squid Lid and will happily swim in my aquasocks that I got last year for Ironman California.

They are the Blue Seventy Aqua Socks and they work very well at keeping the feet toasty warm.

I wore the Desoto Neoprene cap for an oly in northern Indiana (60deg water).  Along with silicone ear plugs.  I was uber-comfortable in less than ideal water temp.

I wore a Squid Lid at Ironman California 70.3 and was pleanty warm in 59 degree water.  One thing to keep in mind is be sure to use a ton of body glide on the back of your neck (where the cap meets your neckline) and on your chin (where the straps sit).  The back of my neck was rubbed raw from the Squid Lid.  Good luck everybdoy with the race.
