Subject: RE: How bout dem Steelers?

Neither team played their best, which was a shame.  Ben was a little flustered in the first half, both teams took at least 30 minutes to start to sort out each other.  Sure it could have been a much more exciting game for both teams had they played like they have in recent playoff games.   Anyone can be an armchair referee, and controversial stories make better headlines.  Anyone who complains that the officials "won the game" take away credit from all the hard work that both teams did.  The Seattle defense clearly held the Steelers offense in check for the first quarter and the seattle offense dropped a lot of balls.  THe seahawks O-line stopped the blitz on almost every occasion and ben made a few really bad plays.

Sure, any one call or play could have changed the outcome of the game, but it's never as simple as saying "those 6 points would have been ours" because any single play, especially the big ones, continue to affect the remainder of plays, the calls, the spirit, the momentum, the motivation...

In the end, the Steelers made a few key BIG plays, as did the Seahawks.   Both teams set Superbowl records for longest rushing TD and longest interception return.  What if those plays had failed?  We wouldn't be whining about why Willie only ran the ball for 20 yards instead of 75 yards.

It's all a part of playing the game, and if you're going to bother to watch, you gotta accept all of it...fouls, fumbles, interceptions and the refs.

setting up the now famous reverse-option pass... c'mon

Obviously I don't watch much NFL football - we see similar type plays up here in the CFL all the time! And what's with 4 downs to make 10 yards?

I always assumed it had something to do with the exchange rate Laughing
