No, I didn't fall off a boat.

I swim at the local Y. The pool is also used by the school swim team, so it's best if I get in and out of there before 6:45 when they take over 6 of the 8 lanes.

This morning, I was over in the little leftover space doing my laps. While they were swimming their warmup, the coach started taking out all the lane ropes so they can play water polo.

Sure it wasn't murky or cold or most attributes of an OWS, but I was impressed with how choppy it got. My little, streamlined, lift-my-lips-just-above-the-surface-of-the-water breath I have worked so hard to perfect wasn't cutting it. I got to practice really rotating my face out of the water and experience the water pushing me around.

Any similar experiences?

Haha, swim team in 5 of 7 lanes - leaving the outside lanes for us lap swimmers - about 6 - 8 kids per lane doing BUTTERFLY SPRINTS.  I felt like I was in the OCEAN!!!

Ah, butterfly. I don't expect to encounter that in a tri. However, I was oddly hoping the kid doing fly next to me would send a wave right in my face so I could practice missing a breath.

Oh...I've got you beat.  Trying swimming next to a water aerobics class where they don't have a lane line but just a bouyed rope separating you.  Holy cow.
