Subject: Google map route importing into BT

Hi Ron & marma -

I have been starting to put my bike routes into the route database. I've found it's really easy on maps.google.com to make a route, using the drag feature in order to modify the route. IS there a way to make a route this way, via maps.google.com or some other site, and then find a way to upload to BT?

Thanks!

If you can save it as a GPX file, you can import it into your Route Tracker. I'm not sure if Google has an export feature.

BTW, you can modify maps by dragging points in your Route Tracker too, both when creating it and in edit mode.

Thanks, Mike.

I am trying now to upload GPX files. I found a couple of online converters that claim to transfer google map data to GPX. I have tried several times, but it seems to get hung up and continues staying "Loading Route Data". I am on a mac, so I don't knwo if this could be an issue. I will keep trying.

The major benefit I see to this approach is that on maps.google, it will follow roads, which makes creating a bike route VERY easy. otherwise I wind up having to click a ton of points for a long ride.

thanks!

Send the file to support at beginnertriathlete, I'll take a look.

We'll be adding the follow road feature to the Route Tracker, I'm just not sure when.

I sent the files to support@, I hope it went thru - the first time it bounced back to me. IT seems to be OK when I re-sent.

thanks!

Tom,

I took a look at the files you sent. The upload is failing because the files aren't valid. There's a lot of bad data in them.

The one from TakItWithMe is pretty much all junk. There are a number of error messages in the file and no usable data.  The one from GMapToGPX looks like it might have been edited with MS Word at some point? There's a lot of format code in it.
