$1 per tooth - better if it is dollar coin.  We also sprinkle fairy dust (glitter) around the bed and window....

velcromom - 2010-01-26 2:36 PM $1.00 per tooth, unless it had to be pulled by the DDS or ortho, then $2.00.  We've had some frantic scrambles when the fairy forgot!!

lol...I used to walk about 10 houses down to Mrs. Miskells house and, standing on her front porch, she would pull out the loose tooth for me.

I have no idea why I always went to her, looking back on it.  But I guess it was better than waiting for it to fall out, pulling it out myself, or having *gasp* my mom do it!

I got a dime per tooth (but that was a long time ago).

Our kids got a silver dollar for the first and half-dollar coins for the rest.  I think they've all saved most of these coins as they were more "special" than everyday money.

We haven't lost any teeth yet, but I'm guessing a dollar.

I kind of can't believe my daughter hasn't knocked one out of her head yet, tho.

When I was a kid my dad would tie a string to the door and to our tooth and then slam the door.   Finally, we'd get so nervous while he was tying the string that he would tie a slip knot on the string, slip it around the tooth and just yank when we least expected it.

Definitely more expensive when the fairy 'had alot of teeth last night, 'must've been sick', 'didn't hear about your tooth in time' i.e. mom & dad forgot to make the exchange altogether   This just happened to us a couple of weeks ago.  Tooth fairy returned the next night and paid out $5.

Before my first started losing teeth I got a stack of $1 coins in preparation. He never once put a tooth under his pillow, he kept them all. Then when my second started losing teeth I was hoping she'd put them under her pillow, but nope. My kids have little boxes full of teeth, and I have a little box full of dollars.

I have a box with someone's teeth in it, except I think they're my great grandfather's...and they're gold.

We're late losers at our house, starting at age 10 and continuing to 18. $1 doesn't cut it. $5-10 is avg. Did leave this tooth fairy rejection letter for high schoolers still trying to get change for molars:

A toonie!  For all you yanks that's $2 per tooth Laughing

My daughter followed her first tooth up with a letter to the tooth fairy that I didn't find until over a week later when I went to change her bedding oops!!  Very specific questions about whether TF was a girl or a boy?  Did TF have wings?  How did they know when the teeth were ready for pick up?  It was enough to make us want to spill the beans!!!
