Have begun training for my first triathlon in August. Would be interested if there is anyone else in the area that would be interested in training, sharing war stories and or bouncing some ideas

My training is mostly indoors, but would be open to training outside with someone else.

Have a great weekend.

I'm in Fenton. I'm not doing much riding these days, but I'm swimming at Genesys and I run outside.

Saturday mornings are my only daylight runs though. Everything else is lit by a headlamp....

Hello,
I also live in the flint area and need workout partners. I am just now getting back into training for this year after a long break. Where do train indoors? I am trying to get some runs in with Matt in the near future, maybe we can all figure something out. I am looking for someone who will drag me to the pool so i can actually practice swimming, but my membership is at the YMCA.

Hi Tom,

Sounds like an idea. I'm starting really from scratch and am in Almont (SE Corner of Lapeer).

Trixie will whip you all in shape. I can barely keep up with her on the bike and all I can do is watch her dissapear into the distance when we run
She is good people though, dont pass up a chance to train with her.

Trixie = FFG

Training with Trixie goes something like this. Hi I'm Trixie, ready to run. You respond with sure, then you don't see anything but her backside for a few minutes, then shes gone for good. She is nice in that she waits at the end of the trail for you. That or she's already gone for lunch and come back just to make sure us slow guys didn't die out on the trail.

I'll be looking for a long run next Saturday/Sunday, I'll post later in the week. Maybe at Kensington.

I might be ready for a long slow run next Sunday. How long and how slow are you talking?

Sloooooooooowwwwwwwwwwww

I've been doing around 10 to 10.5 minute miles for my long runs. Looking to do 8 or 9 next weekend.

Not sure how the paved trail at Kensington is going to be, I thought part of it was used for there supposed XC ski trail, but did notice some of it along the east side of the park was snow free back in December when I was there. Of course maybe it will all melt if it's not to packed down.

I think I can handle that mileage and pace. If some one close to kensington could verify the path is runnable before I make the 40 minute drive that would be great.

BC!!  So good to see you're still around!

I won't be joining you all, but I just wanted to chime in and say that 75% of the snow is gone here in Farmington and with rain and 50s the next two days I think Kensington should be muddy but clear.  Just my guess!

Wow.....I missed a lot this past 48 hours. Glad to see all the posts. I am certainly glad to join the runners when I get a bit more training distance under my belt. I am just starting to get back into shape after a layoff, and it now appears I may be battling a bit of Plantar Fasciutus....I think it might also be Fat asscitius from gaining more weight than one man should.

Hey Jackie! Thanks for the Kensington report and yup I am back in action. Somehow my little break after my Triathlon in late august turned into a 4 month break. But, I just finished my first week of getting back into shape and am ready to tackle the 2008 season. I can't wait to ride with you once you get your new bike. I know you are going to be crazy fast.

And Tcrane I think you are ready to keep up with me now by the looks of your logs. You live in Lapeer or Flint?

I'm down for a long run on Saturday afternoon. I'm coming from Fenton, and just about anything is within 30-40 minutes.

The kids start swim class this Saturday though. That gets out at 11:30am.

Times, location?

Kensington is within range.

A couple of others have mentioned doing Pontiac Lake trail run on Saturday morning. Here's the info:

But the trail may be to mucky for a good run, unless it gets cold enough at night to freeze it up again.
