I finished the GOV'S tri and it was amazing, I finished the 200 yrd swim in 5:44, the bike was tough headwind the first half. was wore out for the run but managed SECOND in my age group.
Sunday is the BIG one and I am pumped. My goal is to finish not concerned with place.
Good luck at your next event. I agree with your statement about not worrying about what place you finish. In my first race I kept telling myself to "run my own race". and don't worry about others. You can worry about being Age Group competitive later, if thats one of your goals.
I am just checking on my fellow weight loss surgery triathletes too see how they are doing. Are you still working out? How are you doing on your weight? I had my surgery in Oct of 2003. I am doing great. I just wanted to see how others were doing.
