Turns out she is a sadist.

Last week for my first lesson she was all nice, "let see what you can do"

This week she thoroughly kicked my . If she hadn't been in the pool with me I swear she would have been wearing dominatrix garb and cracking a whip. It was the hardest 1000 yards I've ever swam. I'm tired. Going to stretch and go to sleep.

My swim coach was the same way. All nice for the first week and then - whamo! He pushes me so hard that I think he was a former drill instructor. For some reason I keep going back for the abuse. I know that it will pay off eventually but I love to gripe about it in the meantime.

It''s those sadistic coaches that are the best and the ones you will be thanking when you're powering through that swim!

Hey, my coach did the same thing. I told her that I signed up for IMAZ and suddenly, it's no more Ms Nice Coach. Whats up w/ that?

I don't think that swim parents should learn to swim. What HAVE I been putting my poor daughters through for 11 years.... AND they keep saying that they enjoy it. Apparently, I have psychos in training.

the funniest part is that mine is so tiny...I do agree with the dominatrix thing - she totally could fit the part....but she is a great swim coach - and she was the one who made me get out of the pool so as sadistic as she is she recognized overtraining too....

ya know I watched my kids with their lessons and they were still all nice....

it will pay off -  I know I feel better in the water....but yeah it is hard work!

Here is an IM between my boyfriend and I yesterday... in reference to coaches:

[16:12] khicks: ah... well, captex is off again.
[16:12] khicks : coach said it was't worth missing those days of training...
[16:12] jbrash: ah
[16:12] jbrash: your coach is kind of a nazi
[16:12] khicks: I see his point and it will save me money.
[16:13] khicks: kind of yea... but I guess that's why I am paying $30 more a month.

I'm not complaining, she's doing a great job, and I think she is grateful that I can at least swim (you should see the lesson before me). It was just amazing the difference between last week and this week. But it is so refreshing to have someone pushing me. I've been through too many PTs and trainers over the last year who for what ever reason didn't push me even when I asked for it.

I'm sore today.

OT it's the baby's first day at daycare today. I'm going to take a nap

I'm looking for a way to bring my coach up on Human Rights abuse charges.  I swear he sits there and laughs (evil laugh) when he comes up with my Training plan.

Anybody want to get in on it with me?

You probably deserve it.

Next time, why don't you try imagining her in that outfit? It might help make the workout more fun. Be sure that the water is cold, though.

Our coach seemed nice at our first masters practice this Sunday.  Until he said, "Now we'll do a T-30, so I can figure your intervals, and figure out what interval will make you HURT."  With this evil smile.  I could practically see him salivating at the prospect putting us in pain.  Which I was in at practice this morning, and will continue to be for some time.
